I'm going to make this comment on every MT3 set - needs an R5 row. For doubleshot sets, I totally get the issue with molds not existing and being expensive. But for this - a dyesub set - it's just not acceptable. I love my /dev/tty set with R5. I won't use my Dancer Dasher set because it only has R4 and the bottom row hurts my thumbs. I won't buy any MT3 set without an R5 bottom row.
Edit: I always confuse Dasher and Dancer.
no worries, man. There are enough keycaps sets for everyone! It's not the end of the world, save your money in these difficult times!

matt3oI want to say for myself that even though these particular sets aren't for me, I do think they're absolutely gorgeous. I love the MT3 profile, and appreciate all of the work you've put into both the profile in general, and these sets in particular.
Got my Elvish keycaps for Preonic. However, the legends at the sides get smudged so easily with slight water or spit. This kinda sucks!
Pointing at Fn and Ctrl text on the sides respectively. Sigh.
I would rather get replacements. For side print keycaps, shipping from Turkey to USA, then getting the replacements back would not be feasible because of the shipping cost at all.
We are still working on it. Running tests on the existing sets and comparing with few different methods. I will push this internally to see if we could expedite the testing.

Super excited to launch our new collaboration keycap sets today. This has been a project long in the works with both matt3o and the good people of Middle-earth and we are finally ready to share this goodness with all of you.
Today we launch the MT3 Lord of the Rings Elvish and Dwarvish keycap sets. These come in both Trainer and Hardcore variety, and have a whole lot of novelties and extras available. The trainer will include front printed English to help us newbies properly assign the keys, while Hardcore is for the well seasoned Tengwar and Cirth scholars out there.
BUT. A lot of effort went into getting the details right on this set for both the looks and the accuracy of the language, so not only do these things look awesome, they’re functional as well. And they’re licensed. The trifecta.
You can read a lot more about it over at matt3o’s blog here(https://matt3o.com/the-lore-behind-the-tolkien-keycaps/), including some of the translations for the novelty keys, as well as a lot of the inspiration and story behind the keycaps.

AlexPkSerious question: when you say "a lot of effort", how did that translate to every single rune on both the Elvish (Tengwar) and Dwarvish (Cirth) keys being incorrect and not matching Tolkien?
Honestly, the fact that the enter key doesn't have 'mellon' or whatever the phrase for 'speak friend' on it is a touch disappointing. At least for an extra.
That being said, these are well done. Shame it's not in my wheelhouse...
matt3oOh, I know. I read the blog post. It's very nice, as is the set. It's just that it's not nearly as funny for at least this Tolkien geek as if it said 'friend' and you had to press it to get the enter. I mean, 'speak friend to enter' is literally the first thing that came to my mind involving words from a keyboard. And my son, too. Youngest wants a set for Christmas...

Are you sure this is doubleshot PBT? Because the photo of the undersides looks like it's dye-sub.
It's dye sublimation. I will get the page updated.

YanboWuCool. It's still in the page copy - "Designed by Matt3o in an earthy-gray-and-off-white colorway, its runelike legends are faithful translations of corresponding Khuzdul terms and Cirth characters—and its durable doubleshot PBT build ensures lasting brilliance with an exceptional feel."
Huge missed opportunity
Color ways that don't go with basically any setup, Dye sub instead of double shot while asking $100 or more... Hard pass on this
1) No there are not (decently) double shot abs for $10. At best they might be crappy thin laser etched. I'm talking about well-done dye sub. Look at for example the keyboard that drop had with lotus pool keycaps. Intricate dye sub and the whole keyboard was like $100
2) I'm not referring to generic mt3 sets. Gmk (even on drop) is in the same price range for often unique moulds.
The fact still stands that $120+ for a dye sub set is a bit ridiculous when you look at average prices of other good quality dye sub sets. I'm sure you can pull up one or 2 examples of other sets going for same or more, but just because an Hermes t-shirt is $2000 doesn't mean a Gucci t-shirt is a good value at $500 😂
nkosticI disagree, this colourway is perfect for natural/muted setups, I'm pairing it with a wooden case and I know drop will be releasing a wooden case with this set at some point. Any decent dye sub set I've seen has always been $100 and above, like others have said before me, they end up expensive for different reasons to double-shot ABS and the price of this set is largely due to the fact its been officially licensed by lotr.
