Did you all get the last email from indiegogo? I think that is really freakin awesome. If i understand it right, we will be able to use usb connection with our phone, so we can have much better connection then bluetooth, and with audio cable we will be able to use an external dac and don’t need external amp but can use the internal thx amp instead. That is what i always wanted, the headphone would be very flexible in configuration, and it will be more game changer than that already is, i think nobody has ever done that before. Thank you drop!!

mbiswaraWell crap, that's phenomenal news! I'd really like to know if they're powered over USB in this mode. You know, if the battery dies and maybe you haven't soldered on a new one.

mbiswaraThere have been wireless headphones that can also output audio via USB-C, notably some of the Momentums, though with USB-C audio standards being a mess it didn't properly work with some of the devices. That said, especially with the proliferation of jack-less phones, this does make the Panda more appealing indeed. @passerby_92 they they're powered over USB (and can charge simultaneously from some devices, it appears), it's an active connection that makes use of the internal DAC. If the battery dies you can still use them in passive mode via a 3.5mm cable. Whether cabled active mode via USB will work with a dead battery — I guess we'll just have to see for ourselves...

passerby_92Yes it will be, this is what the email says Based on feedback, we're working on updating the Panda to utilize USB-C as an audio port in addition to charging. We have it functioning on a couple of prototypes currently, but we're still putting it through some testing. Big takeaways: 1. You can use the Panda headphone wired with a USB-C cable on an Android phone and it will allow you to charge your Panda from your phone while you listen. 2. You can use them wired with an iPad or Macbook and be able to utilize the Panda's onboard DAC for high-resolution audio. 3. You can use the Panda wired while still taking advantage of the AAA amp

mbiswaraThanks. I got the pre-preorder on Drop so I don't get the IGG messages. Don't know why they don't just send us those too...

AnonynekoCan the momentum do it? I didn’t know that. I have the momentum wireless 2. I will try that latter. But i like the momentum in passive mode better than in active mode.

mbiswaraMomentum Wireless 2 (as well as 3) should support USB audio with some devices, at least according to the manual. Though it might get tricky and I'm not sure this feature was even marketed.
mbiswaraWired while taking advantage of the amp is talking about over USB-C. You cannot use the AAA Amp over 3.5mm, that connection bypasses the electronics and goes straight to the drivers, which scale with crazier amps.

WillCould I trick it by using a USB C to Aux connector? I figure the AAA amp would be FAR better than what my Dual Shock 4 or Xbox controller can provided.

HuntersknollOf the game consoles, Nintendo Switch and PS4 support USB audio, no trickery needed, just a proper USB cable. Xbox One does not, because Microsoft wants licensing money. I don't see why you'd want aux to usb trickery since you'd still be dealing with the inferior DAC and doing extra conversions from analog to digital and back. If you really really want the AAA amping and use Xbox maybe get an optical out to bluetooth transmitter 🤔, if you don't have a TV or soundbar that can transmit bluetooth.

GorhugYou are right.. that is a lot easier lol. Yeah I was thinking about doing the bluetooth transmitter thing for fun. Just a lot of options with the panda but that is what makes it great.

WillThank you, i tought wired means also analog, so we can use an external dac and still use the internal amplifier. Because i don’t know if there will be better matching amplifier for this, but i think there are many different dac out there.
mbiswaraWhen you use Panda over USBC, you are using the DAC on pandas chipset and the built-in AAA amp.
