Very interested in this device. I have pretty bad eyesight since I got past 40. And lately have been doing some SMD electronics DIY. Which is insanely hard with tiny caps and chips.
Anyone can speak to this as a possible use? Or is it ungainly with the flimsy stand and fixed magnification.
Also, is the saved video quality any good?
This guy gives a good review and says retail is $65, which makes this another typical mass drop. https://youtu.be/BKGZKYMA7d8
EDIT: I got one at amazon for < forty bucks delivered next day!
I come here just for the conversation.
The only value that "deals" like this one add to massdrop is entertaining discussions. Hard drives fall in the same category: "Pay a premium and buy from us. And if that doesn't convince you, we can also make you wait for your new toy."

Ordered a similar item for a nephew for Christmas from MD and was very disappointed. It was clearly just a factory showroom-model with zero thought for how the brand should improve beyond the factory build. Not much heft to the materials, digital zoom only, and you have to bump through menus in Chinese to find how to change to English to move past the default settings.
I own this microscope. It's not terrible, but you should know:
- It does NOT zoom to 600x (even though advertised as such)
- It does NOT have a 1080p display (even though advertised as such)
- At $59.99, you're paying MORE than the price it's always at on eBay ($40) or pretty much anywhere selling it.
Getting more and more disappointed with Massdrop's prices and knowledgeability on what they sell.
