If you're missing diodes (or any other parts), please email support@massdrop.com and we'll make sure to send you the missing parts.
It isn't an issue of being cheap, it's a mistake by our prep people at the warehouse. We're working on training people better :(
MarkHi Mark - is it possible to get an update for the status of the September ergodox drop? Anything holding them up? Best guess as to when they will all be shipped?
chris8I've contacted support regarding my Sept order where I was #123 in line, here is her reply to me:
"I'm so sorry for the delay! Our warehouse is still in the process of shipping out orders. They have shipped out 211 out of 308 orders so far, and it is taking awhile since they have to get all the components together. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, but we are trying to get all orders shipped out as soon as possible!"
Not sure how they process each order as from the sounds of this email and based off some of the responses here it doesn't seem they process in the sequence of when you ordered your dox :( or where you live. So they've got less than 100 left to get together so I'm hoping they'll ship soon, and without any missing part :).
nix_fanI also ordered MX Browns but I had the DCS Clear keycaps. I hope you get all the diodes when yours arrives! I sent a note to support about it on Friday and still haven't heard back so I ordered the missing diodes on DigiKey. Let's see which arrive first :)
MarkWhy not just ship with extra diodes? It seems like you guys are constantly shorting the diodes and they cost less than a penny each. Why not just buy a few thousand extra and make sure that no one has to wait for missing diodes to ship?
zygentomaThey do what? Ship extra diodes or constantly short the diodes? Because I'm currently waiting on diodes because I was shorted. I know support is working on fixing it but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.
silverthornneThey're supposed to ship extras of things in the kit, but seem to short on the diodes in some of these kits(The most common problem that I see people having with these kits.). I got extras of a few things in my kit when I got it, got an extra switch, and extra capacitor, a couple of extra resistors, and 90 diodes in the kit.
cartman-2000Our instructions to our warehouse/packing employees is to measure everything with ample extras. The cost of diodes is trivial compared to the cost of sending replacement/missing diodes. Someone on the line messed up and wasn't paying attention to the instructions (whatsoever) and for some reason QA missed it as well. This is a problem in our packing process that appeared with the latest drop (it wasn't a problem previously) that we'll address with the next drop.
Unfortunately, it's after hundreds of kits that have already shipped out that we were alerted to the issue (by you guys).
It's an expensive mistake for us, and inconvenient for you, and we thank you for your patience while we fix it by sending people more (basically costless) diodes.
silverthornneShip extra diodes. From the description: "We'll be including a few extra switches, diodes, extra LEDs, and resistors all for free." All the rest is written above.
And yes, it's a pity, there are some few diodes missing. But mistakes happen. And it's not like it's impossible to buy some diodes locally, if you can't wait for the ones MD is going to send you.
zygentomaIn a lot of places around the world, It is impossible to buy specific electronics locally, Here in Adelaide, Australia, there is only one store that would have them. So if its not available locally, the person who spend close to $300 on a keyboard is going to have to spend more on getting diodes shipped. Its good that they are trying to resolve the issue, But it should of never happened.
