Everything's been ordered and paid for as of months ago, unfortunately (for reasons I can't specifically get into), some of our distributors are a lot slower this time around then previously. We're on the phone literally every couple days checking up with them on what the status of our parts orders (or shipments) are.
We've used the same manufacturers as we did for ErgoDox part 1 and part 2 and they processed everything much faster that time. I can tell you for part 4 that we launch (when this finally ships), we'll be replacing a couple...
We get things from about 9 different places, so unfortunately the entire ergodox takes as long as the slowest part. We've had some parts in our warehouse for 6 weeks now (and unfortunately paying storage costs for them, etc.)
Due to vendor relations, I can't be more specific, hope you guys understand.
MarkI'm completely ignorant to the supply chain process: why can't the distributors be named? It seems to me that they might get their act together if they knew there was some bad press out there...
jekyllWhen they have our (your) money, and haven't shipped us product yet, and they're in another country (China), it's not a good idea to publicly slander them... It's just asking to have your product delayed more (or indefinitely). And dealing with international business, there's no effective recourse if they decide to take the money and run. Despite some of these businesses being absolutely huge, it's not like Apple is going to stop ordering parts from them because "Massdrop had a bad experience with their order".
MarkHey Mark, I know you can't be too specific, but what's the status of the drop? Any new news? If you're not assembling them, how many parts are you waiting on?
Just generally, any ETA? (Can be vague... 1 month? 2 months?)
Thanks!
