Good Evening Gents & Ladies.
If I were to have around $300 to spend on a portable player with best bang for buck so to speak, would anyone have some recommendations for me? I have an iPod Classic 120Gb in perfect condition, just times have moved on...big time lol!
Thank you :)
FiiO x5ii. Best DAP around so far.
I was in your situation as well and I took the iPhone + TIDAL HIFI subscription path. The improvement over my older iPods was huge. Now I will upgrade it with O2/ODAC. If I will carry another device with me, be it a O2/DAC.
You might want to check out FiiO X5-3.
Thank you to you ALL for taking the time for the advice. Anymore is always welcomed.
Just made a quick search but could not find much about it, I guess it is fairly a new device.
Oh, it's just been launched!
I've been one of the few guys who created custom UIs (totally free and for fun) for X5ii so I'm watching X5-3 closely!
I'm not sure if there are other DAPs that I would recommend other than X5ii and X5-3, regardless of the price implied. I haven't tested all DAPs out there, but X5ii left me... impressed. Impressed is very little said about the experience I had with it and FiiO - both the DAP was amazing and FiiO were great in helping me out with any questions I had. It pushed me enough to take part in creating a custom UI for X5ii - this UI improved both visuals and speed / fluidity of the UI.
X5-3 has just been launched so I'm not sure about it yet - Haven't heard it - but if it is the successor of X5ii, then I'm pretty sure already sure that it's going to be awesome.
Thanks for taking the time to reply - Much appreciated!
I will wait while the reviews start to flow in and on the forum and will take a decision based on your background on it and what peeps are saying about it.
I wish you'll have lots of fun in this hobby and find the best DAP for you!^^
I'm having the same issue. 6th Generation iPod Classic loaded with ALAC music. It's paired to to a Fiio E12. I'd like a new DAP also but a battery replacement is cheap for the Classic. Can't find a DAP with enough power to be able to ditch the Fiio.
