Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The sound is much improved as already stated by many others, everything that is great about these headphones is just tighter, cleaner and well adjusted.
The Process takes about 10 minutes and isn't difficult at all, just twist and remove your ear pads, Remove 4 x tiny screws and get working on the pieces of the kit ensuring a snug fit and seal around the driver.
I wanted to keep these as close to their " Fostex " sound as possible as I love the Bass response and W / V curve in these.
If you're like me, you probably have a set for every occasion and purpose so i'll list my other sets below for reference.
ATH-MSR7 - My travel headphones, Great V shaped all rounders that look great and are comfy enough to take around wherever you go " good at everything, great at nothing ".
Vmoda Crossfade 2 wireless- My Training Headset, Bulletproof, good sound, Punchy bass and overall quality sound with decent battery life when running or training.
AKG-702 - My gaming headset, huge soundstage, very very comfortable and analytical " I've also fallen asleep with these on ".
HD-650 - Listening to Rock music with an analytical yet warm feel.
Fostex - X00 PH - Fun, great looking, but not practical. Anything and everything sounds good... maybe not jazz.... but I don't listen to Jazz anyway.
Changing the pads from angled leather to Hybrid velour has improved the overall sound for me.
How long has it been since you modded them? Would love an update with your impressions after some time with the tune up mods!
I've had them in for a couple of weeks with the ZMF Ori pads and it's a much better experience while maintaining the stock Fostex sound.
I've tried them with the stock pads and also the cup dampening and for me, the cup dampening kills off some low end and the ZMF pads push the low end slightly further back.
The best overall sound to comfort experience for me is the PH's with driver only dampening and some slightly thicker pads which make basically anything enjoyable in my opinion.
Hope that helps !
Enjoy the music!
