My 2cents on maybe why it didn't work:
The lighting effect don't seem convincing: the amount of light actually shining through is very small and doesn't follow the rounded tube
The keycap represent a metallic piece, but the actual aspect is too much plastic.
The addition of copper wires was actually the trigger to vouch for it for me: that was a awesome idea way too rare, and maybe more should have been used to cover the plastic.
So: more lighting effect and more copper so it feels less a inert plastic keycap
