@T0mb3ry hey there, are you aware of any issues with the R5 style more angled bottom row caps having problems with clearance on south-facing-LED MX-style switches (MX Silent Black in my case)? I'm having trouble with my set's bottom row, where the plastic strengthening bits on the underside are somehow touching the switch casing too much I think, causing the keys to have a "sticky" feeling. Any ideas if theres a tried and true remedy available or whether I should just pick a sharp knife or something and carve the keycap undersides a little to allow better clearance?

ojraskHello there ;) Lets call those plastic strengthening bits as "ribs" cuz its shorter :) All keycap stems in original Cherre profile (GMK is using Cherry tooling) have a length of 4mm from end to the ribs. That counts for every row. On bottoming out those ribs may come in contact with top housing. If you add films or switch gaskets to switch then the top housing will be elevated little bit and the ribs will definitely bottom out on top housing. That said i think that can not be the issue of the sticky feeling. Its just plastic on plastic unless there is something. I rather think that it is the rubber in the silent switches. The stems in silent switches have those rubber extensions and they might cause troubles. You can also test the troublesome keycap on a different board which has non silent switches and see if it is still sticky. I would like to know how that goes.

T0mb3ryHey thanks for the quick response. Ah yes "ribs" was the term I was forgetting, thanks. :D Tried the caps on a Zealios board and while it does not get hard stuck on these it still has that feeling of having to overcome some edge before it goes down most of the time. The feeling on the Silent Blacks is akin to two hard edges blocking movement near completely, not some mushy rubber slowing things down. I'll have to dig out my uninstalled Silent Blacks so I can see better what's going on. Thanks!

T0mb3ryHey again. I took a better look at what the problem is, and it is with 99% certainty the stem pillar on the keycap hitting the stem hole edges of the switch housing if the keycap is in a "bent" enough position when pressing it down. So either the stem pillar is a bit off on the R5 molds or then the Silent variant housing is tighter than expected around the stem, which sounds like a feasible theory to me. The stem on the switch does not get stuck in any way if it is bent into that certain position without the keycap on it. I shaved a small amount off of the stem pillar to see what happens and either its placebo or then it doesn't get stuck nearly as badly as before. In the image marked with red are the spots that are hitting each other and causing the two to get stuck based on my highly scientific research method of doing it a ton of times and making an educated guess.

ojraskAh this one. I know that issue. I encountered this one as well and i fixed it by rounding that edge on stem pillar. It is indeed too "sharp" and in some cases it might hit the edge of the top housing. It appears randomly tho and you have to hit the key in south direction to notice it (R5s angle is definitely perfect for that).
