$120 for key caps? I think I'll save that money and just buy a whole other keyboard.

RchUncleSkeletonNo keyboard at $120 will ever come with caps of this quality let alone rarity. But if you don't know that, it's ok. Once you start using non-stock caps, you'll find it's impossible to ever use OEM again. It's not for everyone.

BrainFlushQuality? These aren't even PBT. I understand the nostalgia effect, which is why I clicked on it, but then I saw the price. It's more than double what I expected depending if you want the "add on". At this price, you'd be better off scouring the internet for the same colored PBT caps, even buying one by one haha.
EDIT- Not to mention, you can send in your own designs to WASD and have them make this for you. That option would be hella lot cheaper too.

AtomicFireGMK ABS > standard PBT
The only PBT better than GMK is BSP and Gateron.

AtomicFireThis guy...Declares PBT as the standard of quality, then suggests getting printed ABS caps from WASD.
I got a printed set from them because I wanted custom font, legends, and images. It's great for that and I was very pleased with how it turned out, but after only a few months of use, my w, a, s, and d keys have already been worn down through the coating to the point where the printed legends are coming off. For a little over double the price of a printed set from WASD, this GMK set will last you infinitely longer.

Yeah, that too.
Also, I like OEM profile. For me, that's the nice thing about WASD's custom sets. I can have whatever I want on OEM. =D

AtomicFireIf you are happy using WASD keys it would be impossible to explain you the difference. In such case, you are totally right, let this go and don't even bother to post, this set is not for you.

eksuenI never said WASD were PBT. I suggested that as an alternative to spending either $130 or $185 on these. I've never ordered from WASD, not sure how much they will cost, but definitely not $100+. No matter how you break it down, ABS is ABS and PBT is PBT. Sure, there can be a higher quality ABS over another ABS, but you cannot change properties by just saying they're of the highest quality. The highest quality ABS doesn't make it better than normal quality PBT. Where the hell did you people go to school? Do you even know what ABS and PBT stand for? Or do you just think that's the actual name of it? Search ABS properties and PBT properties.

AtomicFireI am glad I am not the only one that thought about sending designs over to WASD.

AtomicFireIt is not about the material alone, it is the design of the part and its application, in this particular case the molds allow very thick walls and the contoured design of the key caps and their low and contoured profile make them a very good typing surface with a better typing experience than most other key caps available, the double shot process is one of the best ways to make the legends that will never wear off.
As we all know mechanical keyboards, including this kind of high quality key caps, have been replaced with cheaper designs and components found in mainstream input devices to the point that some rubber dome keyboards are available under 20 bucks.
There are also entry level mechanical keyboards and components that can be get under 150 bucks and even less, but they will come with low cost key caps; for example, a set of some Chinese double shots can get under forty dollars and it is OK, but if you want the best you should get something like this set.
AtomicFireMaterial is not everything. Thickness is a huge factor, as well as the method of "printing" the legend. Saying that thick double-shot ABS is essentially the same as UV-printed thin ABS is like saying that a bike is the same as a car. Sure, both will essentially take you from A to B, but that is not enough to make the comparison valid.

AtomicFireDid you seriously just compare WASD keycaps to GMK? I wish I could be as blissfully ignorant as you...

I'm just trying to provide a single data point as someone who doesn't mind OEM profile, stock caps or not. I have GMK sets and I do like the Cherry profile, but I like OEM too. I enjoy typing on both profiles.
