I really don't know why some people would prefer this to the ananda. I bought the double-sided version a month ago and compared it to my ananda. Let's get to the positives first. First the build quality is so much better on these there is no contest. The ananda feels flimsy. This feels super solid. There's no rough edges and the CNC work looks meticulous. Holding it in your hand you can tell the creator spent a lot of time making sure the build is up to snuff. The pads are also very nice. It comes with leather pads installed on the headphone and another set of D-shaped hybrid pads. They are very well built. The pads on the anandas look like toy in comparison. Unfortunately the good things end here. Once I put it on and hit play, I have a hunch that these probably aren't in the same league as the ananda. Just to be safe, I left it on my desk and let it burn in for 120 hours. Yes, five straight days playing all sorts of music. And bear in mind that I'm using the balanced port on my iHA-6, connected to a Resonessence Labs dac so power is not an issue. These have definitely improved after five days but I still don't see them playing in the same league as the ananda. I'm no expert in FR, but what I'm hearing kind of aligns with Resolve's review --- it sounds wonky. There's some treble haze and the bass isn't as defined as I would've liked. The Ananda, especially when you compare them side-by-side, sounds a lot more natural. They are not as dynamic as the GL2000, but it just sounds more correct, there is a soothing musicality that you just don't get with the GL2000. Yes the build is much worse, but the sound is a lot more mature and well-tuned. This concludes my review. I'd buy the GL2000 in a heartbeat if only the sound is as good as the build. Being the OEM of M1060s they knocked it out of the park in build quality, but SQ leaves a lot to be desired. At this price, the Ananda is still the much better choice in my opinion, if you can settle with the somewhat plasticky build quality. I find it funny how hifiman keeps cutting corners yet still produce the best headphone in almost every price bracket. It's becoming a brand image of theirs, sort of.

EDIT: To clarify, I got the headphone mid-January. Not sure if it's the latest batch, but they did come with a set of D-shaped spare earpads and a really nice cable terminated in 4-pin XLR. I'm very sure the firsts batch only comes with 4.4mm cables so mine must be the 2nd, or 3rd batch. EDIT II: I forget to talk about comfort. TLDR: The Anandas are much more comfortable. Again the very plasticky build actually pays dividends when it comes to comfort. They are very light, and conform to the shape of your head very well. Weight distribution is excellent. The GL2000 on the other hand feels significantly heavier. I don't know what the numbers are but it feels much heavier on the head. The weight distribution isn't as good as the ananda and the all-metal build becomes a detriment. In some way I feel that this headphone is over-built. If they use less metal it would cut the weight down significantly.

LambdastormI just don't see how it sounds that bad... you must of got a poorly built set or something. My set still sounds fantastic and I am excited to listen to it each time I hook it up. There must be some serious unit variance going on or something with these.
