Drop Mech Keys Meetup Recap - Thanks for Visiting!
As you may have seen, we just hosted our first meetup in quite a while here at Drop HQ (Corsair HQ, but they seem to like us enough :) )! It was a blast to get to meet so many enthusiasts local to the bay area—it had been 10 years since I was last hanging out with keyboard nerds in the bay, at KeyCon 2014. We had a great time hosting everyone at the offices, checking out all the very nice boards y'all brought, and sharing some of our own projects/spaces! I knew it would be fun to host in the Game Room when I first saw it in person, but seeing it come to fruition was still so cool. Alright, I'll stop blabbering on now. xD Picture time! (Oh, real quick - there will be more of these! Stay tuned for more info and to catch the next one!)

First picture is a nice 60%, with 3Run, and quickly blows up as you take the better layout, ditch the plastic case, and well, get the 3Run in the layout.
Really feels like this should have a base price of $280 with options to downgrade, esp with the main picture depicting at least $210 in spend.
I mean this to be a constructive feedback, as price shock like this is not beneficial to drops or anybody involved.
I got an email that said "Infinity x GMK 3Run 60% Keyboard Kit" with a picture of the Keyboard with 3Run, and the Extras pack with a price of $100. Right there my expectations are set to the $185 product at $100, nearly double what was shown in the email. Now, I know what these things cost to produce, and a base set of GMK's generally run $80, but the expectation has been set. If I didn't know this I wouldn't be stepping back, thinking about it, then choosing to continue after resetting my expectations to what I know these things cost.
If the price had been set to $160 and the initial photo did not show the extra's it would be palatable to upgrade from Alpha to Hacker ($25), and then go "I like the extras, I'll take those too" and drop another $25. That way as a consumer I feel like I'm paying for an upgrade rather than paying extra to get what I was shown, just like spending $60 on the Aluminum case, and $30 on Zealios doesn't cause me to bat an eye, because I don't expect those to be there as a default.
