White Owl: Most sticky switch I've ever seennnnnnnnnnnnn—unusable with MT3 profile keycaps
(Yes that "nnnnnnnnnnnnn" above happened by accident. I just left it like this as it very nicely shows the main issue of these switches. In the remaining text below, I've fixed such issues to make it more readable.)
On a first look, the Kailh Box Master V2 White Owl are nice clicky 5-pin box switches. The click though could be even a bit louder for my taste.
And that transparent block of an onboard SMD LED window looks sane, too. But exactly that filling is the problem. About one third of all my (ABS doubleshot) MT3 key caps (namely MT3 Skiidata) on the keyboard stick with these switches, especially the space bar. They all seem to scratch at this transparent plastic window part which is standing out of the remaining switch body quite a lot.
Since the Red Bean Pudding switches seem to have the same LED window sticking out to the front of the switch, I assume the issue is the same as with the White Owl switches I have. (The issue is likely not present with the Silent Fried Egg switches which have a completely different housing. Unfortunately Drop sells them under the same "product", so you can't really distinguish for which switch the rating is bad and for which it is good without reading all the reviews.)
Luckily I tried them on a hotswap keyboard, so I don't need to desolder everything. But it's a TKL, so I now have to remove about 80 very well sitting switches trying to not scratch the plate while doing so. Replaced them with Kailh Box Jades (retooled V1) for now.
I'm quite surprised that Drop sells switches which don't work with their own signature key cap profile without giving at least a warning.
Haven't tested them with GMK or standard SA key caps, but they might work better with them. But at least a short test with an SA-P R2 keycap worked without an issue despite the walls are quite thick, too. So for now I can't recommend them, at least I explicitly don't recommend them for usage with MT3 profile doubleshot keycaps.
One plus point is definitely that these are the first Kailh Box switches I see which have 5 pins, i.e. are suitable for PCB mounting as well as being better-suited for hotswap keyboards.
