What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

the plastic piece on each side of the middle switch is the stabilizer. If you are unhappy with how they feel it might be worth looking into a guide on re-lubricating them, there is also a more permanent mod which clips certain part of the stabilizers to give them when they hit the bottom more similar to the other non-stabilized keys (the main complaint against this type of stabilizer. Just be careful if you decide to remove one of the stabilized keys and take a look at Ripster's guides for removing them and lubricating/modding. http://imgur.com/a/nsEDr - Ripster's guide to removing stabilized keys http://imgur.com/a/TpWDP#0 - Ripster's guide to lubricating stabilizers
- You can clip parts of the stabilizer to make them feel more like the Costar Stabiliers (Warning on this one since you can't go back to how you were before the mod and it's pretty involved since you are irreparably changing the stabilizer) So all in all if it's bothering you there are a couple of things you can try to see if it makes those larger keys feel better! Also if you post to www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards you'll probably get even better advice than what I can here.
