One of the most well-reviewed keyboards in the mech keys community, the Keycool 84 2S is a tenkeyless board with a full set numbers, function keys, and arrows—all packed into a form factor that wastes not a smidge of space. It's a fine keyboard but the keys are soldered. If you're dead set on the basic switches that's fine but I've moved on to building my own keyboard from scratch since I picked this up. Never failed me, but the cable it comes with is a little bit iffy.
Nothing more to say. I really like this keyboard. I just wish they allowed you to get the Cherry MX switches with RGB - I'm currently using the one with Gateron Browns. I'm currently typing on it right now!
My favorite mech keyboard out of the dozen or so I've owned. Has everything I want in a board, PBT laser etched keycaps, 75% layout. I game a lot so I also like that the F keys are aligned with the number keys (on some boards they are offset). RGB is not a necessity for me but its a nice feature. Been using mine 8+ hours daily for the past year and everything still works perfectly.
The only knock I have on this board is that there was a slight wobble to it out the box but I managed to remedy this by gently flexing the keyboard in the opposite direction. Mostly a moot point now since it sits on a full desk mat.
Like the sound and feel of keys. Dislike how the legs sometimes fold themselves back into the closed position. Other than that keyboard is amazing 9/10
It has everything you need in a solid mechanical keyboard - not more not less
I already own two 84 2S from two different drops. One to stay at home at my desk and a second one i take with me to university. (I always bring my own keyboard and mouse to the computer lab in university. The ones they have their are so dirty and disgusting i don't wanna touch them).
The chassis is a little different on the newer one. The first one i got looks exactly like on the pictures. The second and newer one more or less looks the same, but the edges aren't that rounded. They are more edgy and the top of the chassis is completely flat. I think the second revision looks a bit better than the first one.
The keycaps are the same on both. They just feel good.
I have both my 84s equipped with Cherry MX Blues so i do not have LEDs. Therefore i can't say anything about how visible the LED light is with this keycaps. To the switches them self. I like Cherry MX Blues and on my 84 S2 they feel just like on any other keyboard with Cherry MX Blues i have. If you don't like Cherry MX Blues, pick other switches
The cable is detachable and has USB-C on the side that connects to the keyboard (Type A on the other side). The part where you plug in the cable is built so that you can use any standard USB-C cable and not just the one that comes with the keyboard.
My first 84 S2 was delivered in January 2019 and i heavily used it since then. It still looks like it did when it was new and works flawlessly. It is heavy and does not bend at all. Just a solid keyboard.
Overall i would say this is a pretty solid keyboard with a good feeling (depends on the switches you choose, keycaps feel nice anyway) without any extras (despite having Media Keys even when they are not printed on the keycaps. Just try various Fn+F-key combinations. FN+F10/F11 controls volume, FN+F7 pauses/resumes...They could have printed that onto the keycaps) but everything you need. If you just want a solid keyboard for a reasonable price, go for it.
