Drop DSA Astrolokeys Keycaps by sailorhg & cassidoo
It's a good quality, but mass produced, cap. I found over time I prefer the metal novelties over the resin ones, but I'm still a fan of this one. The profile was the only thing I really didn't like about it. Too tall.
These are so cool looking on my space themed keyboard. I’d love to share photos but the upload makes them look bad and I don’t want them to be viewed poorly. More than satisfied with this purchase
While the keycap itself is resin, the stem is some other plastic and glued to the bottom. Apparently the plastic is not very strong, because it broke and fell off the keycap the first time I used it. The keycap itself seems nice, but it's useless without the stem.
the detail of the resin mold looks nice but the mx stem that connects to the stem of the switch is made from cheap plastic that’s just glued to the bottom of the cap. I put it on one keyboard the very first time and then went to take it off a week or so later and the stem cracked, broke in half and separated from the rest of the cap making the keycap useless now. Would not recommend. Save your money and buy an artisan where the stem is actually part of the resin mold and not a separate glued on piece.
*******EDIT: Craftkey saw my rating and reached out to me about fixing the broken key cap. They are sending me another stem that I can use to fix this cap so the Craftkey customer service is greatly appreciated since the Drop customer service said I was past the date for warranty issues and they couldn’t help me. I still do love the detail of the piece. They said they used removable stems to accommodate different style keyboards from around the world as well as different climates that affect the plastic. If the stem breaks they can easily fix it but if the stem were to be molded to the cap and then break the cap would be useless which I can see the benefit to doing it this way. I’m just happy to be getting it fixed.
I bought various other Artisan keycaps for my son the gamer. He really loves these as do his friends and I'm sure that he will love this one too. It is a Christmas present, so he's going to have to wait.
