I ordered this product on a whim and I gotta say, I really am pleasantly surprised.
The great:
The keycaps look absolutely gorgeous
I was surprised the NJ80 has its own software for macros and lighting (it's no via, but very solid and stable)
By FAR the best stock stabilizers I've ever seen on a keyboard in this price range
The good:
While the keycaps looks gorgeous, they don't provide a very thocky sound on the pandas. They have a creamy tone to them so take that as you may. (Tested vs. MiTo Cyberpunks on the pandas, purple pandas, and black inks)
The battery life is solid, nothing that is absolutely out of this world but very good
The switches were pretty decent out of the box; however, as this is my first time with drop pandas, I lubed them and the difference was drastic. If you have the patience, definitely lube the switches
The build quality is phenomenal
The bad:
Honestly, I am just knit picking at this point as there really isn't something "bad" I can think of BUT the fact that I didn't get extra keycaps to be able to use them on a TKL board took me off guard. Maybe I just had unrealistic expectations but it would have been nice to have the "insert, home, end" keycaps alongside the board.
Disclaimer: I have only had this board for a day now, so I will update the review as I use it more.
Overall, if you're on the fence about this and worried it's not worth the price, IT IS!
This keyboard immediately caught my eye with its layout. I love the compact size with addition to function keys. I wasn't the fan of the keycaps at first and was planning to replace them, but they feel great and look much better in real life than in photos.
Knob feels solid and tactile.
I'm not an expert on switches, I was only using MX Reds and Gateron Browns before, but compared to these two Holy Panda Xs are on another level. I love typing on this keyboard. Keys aren't too much wobbly.
2.4Ghz connectivity works really well. I haven't had any issues with it and I'm also using a mouse with 2.4Ghz dongle. Luckily the two do not interfere. I don't notice the latency in day to day work.
Oh and the keyboard comes with a plastic cover, while for most of you this is just a plastic waste I'm using it as a dust cover :D
Overall this is a very solid keyboard and I'm happy with the purchase.
I really like that drop.com had an exclusive. The color, the switches, the keycaps. I was really happy to find that deal. I'm actually using the keyboard right now. I think it sounds quite good. I do hit the space bar really hard (a bad habit of mine), so the space bar can be a little loud - but, this is a "me" problem. The rest of the keys have a nice resistance to them. Since this is my first mechanical keyboard, I don't have anything else to compare it to. But already I like it. It's a much nicer typing experience overall. I LOVE that the Keydous NJ80 is wireless. Absolutely love not having another cable on my desk. I also bought keycaps (because that's the only thing that i have any confidence in doing as of right now). But I would also love to experiment with switches, etc. as time goes on.
A significant upgrade over my previous Leopold FC750R. Don't get my wrong I loved that keyboard as it was my first true mechanical, but this thing rocks! It's build quality is amazing, the Bluetooth has worked just fine for me and I have had no issues, and the hold pandas are much better sounding and smoother than my previous keyboard which had cherry mx reds.
I bought this keyboard on pre-order back in the day and the value is commendable. It's not my favorite keyboard but the Glorious Pandas that it comes with really seals the deal! I did end up switching out the keycaps but I'd say the keycaps are pretty standard.
The keycaps are nice and its built quality is good but my only complaint is the cored that comes with it feels cheap. It sound good although sometimes you get a little ping but that could be fixed pretty easily. Over all its a good keyboard on sale but you could probably find better when it's off sale.
