Considering the Lumintop FW3A flashlight measures just 3.7 inches long, it’s hard to believe that it puts out up to 2,800 lumens and casts a beam as far as 200 meters—but that’s the kind of power we’ve come to expect from Lumintop over the years. Made with an anodized aluminum body, the FW3A can take a beating on the trail or when it’s tossed around in the toolbox Read More

I consider this an alternative to the Emisar D4, but with a tail switch and nicer appearance. A good light for every day use that can get bright when you need it.
The first thing I noticed is the build quality, it's very solid and feels great. Despite being handled, carried in the pocket, and dropped a few times, it hasn't shown any scratches. It has a slightly frosted lens (I initially thought it had fogged up).
The UI is just... too much. I think of all the lights I own, this will be the first one where I won't be able to memorize the entire UI! However all the important functions I need (changing brightness, lockout, turbo) are easy enough to access. Maybe these types of enthusiast flashlights should start adding extra buttons and/or small displays or indicators?
In any case, so far I like it more than the D4, but I need to see if there's a Nichia version available.
.... and this lite is no exception. An insanely great unit..... precision crafted. No branding. No fuss. No muss. Just a great unit, with a logical one-button interface for brightness control.
20191218 Edit: Still like this flashlite, but be careful if you put it into your pocket or into a backpack. The button on the end is easily pressed. Found it in my backpack completely dead a couple of times, from being inadvertently turned on without knowing it.
ChockfullGood tip. I'll look for that. In the mean time, I've been using a Nitecore LR12, and lovin' it, too. The "twist" switch and brightness control is weird at first, but you get used to it. And the lantern sleeve is super useful too.
The light is great. Very high quality. No complaints. Brighter than I even thought a light this small could be. One small thing to note, the metal tail side button is a bit loose. Tiny bit of up and down rattle. Nothing to worry about. But it’s there.
The 18650 rechargeable battery is harder to locate than a AA or AAA or a cr123.. Should have been included along with a built in charger... Cost cutting at its finest..
I'm glad your budget for seeing things in the dark is in the 4 figures. I'm sorry the $40 flashlight you bought required you to read so much that it made you angry. I'll stop replying now so you won't have to be burdened with any more reading. Go enjoy your thousands of dollars of flashlights that can be used for more than just doggie walking. All the wonderful things I wish I could be doing with my flashlight bit can't, because I can only afford to spend $40. Poor me, I don't even have a dog. What was I thinking?
Short version
18650 Battery
Have tried 3 different types /manufacturer of this battery in this thing
This thing blinks once when you screw the cap on , first thread then...
its a nice...aluminum tube with a button on it that does nothing.
Taking it apart you can see the battery crushes the contact springs on either end of the internals.
Not a good sign.
Another light into the bin
EnragedGorillaAfter more than a few different Manufacture types of battery, reforming the Contact springs , the thing works.
It WILL NOT be in My EDC gear though, too many issues (A battery that WORKS with the Light upon purchase would be nice OR at least a list of the batteries that WILL work...rather than the MINIMAL 2" slip of paper that came with it) for me to trust it with "my life" in a "need" situation.
Nice desk top grab light, that is as far as I will go though.
EnragedGorillaI use Samsung 30q batteries for mine. Make sure they are the flat-top unprotected kind. They are 3000 mAh while you can get up to 3500 mAh of power in a 18650 but the output amps are lower on those so they don't take full advantage of the brightness capabilities of this light.
Overall I like this light a lot but the UI is just way too much. I’ve gotten used to it but most of the modes are useless IMO. Many times I’ve ended up in some mode and I can’t figure out how to get the light back to normal so I’d have to disconnect the battery to reset it.
This is an amazing flashlight. After buying this item, I bought the short tube, a glow-gasket, a lanyard ring, and also the titanium version of the same flashlight finally. I think that shows the best how satisfied I was. There is a minor misconception and a sub-optimal design according to the inner tube and some people also reported the electronic tail switch to be mushy. That is not my case with any of the lights. I do not regret buying this product and, in fact, I like it a lot.
It has more features than I will probably use, Once you get onto it, it is very easy to use and the light adjustment is an excellent feature. The switch does stick from time to time.
