The modular design is kind of cool, but there are already a ton of available flashlights with similar outputs and better UIs, many available for less than this. The addition of a moonlight mode would be a huge improvement that I can't believe was overlooked. 30 lumens for low is pretty bright for a lot of applications. I really liked the massdrop AAA flashlights and was really hoping for more out of this one.

IanEDCYup, while I thought I was done, this light is tempting, but, moonlight is a must! Most of my use is down in that range. Sit in a really dark room for 15 minutes, and then turn your light on to dig through a bag, and see if you have any night vision left (say, in a hotel room, and you realize you really do need your earplugs after trying to sleep for a bit). I would like a fractional lumen mode, and then have brightness jump by say 5 or so (play with this). Light should come on dim (or be programmable) and get bright with each click (I've had lights that come on bright, and you then dim them, which is kinda dumb).

FundinI honestly can't think of any off the top of my head, and I love brass, but not enough to buy this light. Not to say they aren't out there, I can easily think of a ton of ~500lm copper and brass single cr123 lights. But material alone shouldn't be why you buy a light. Take a look at a light like the emisar D4. The UI and functionality of that light blows this one out of the water, and you can get it with multiple different tubes for different batteries and buy an 18650 battery with it...all for slightly less than this light.

IanEDCYes, and a Volvo is a great car i guess, but I would rather drive a handbuilt replica Jaguar :-) Or maybe both ? ;-)

FundinI'm not sure I understand your reply. The best car comparison I can come up with is the DeLorean. All the thought/budget went into the outside of this light and zero thought/budget went into the guts

IanEDCA replica jaguar is a look back, a delorean is trying too hard to be modern, so not a good comparison. The path is a bit retro. The Path only have metals showing, i do not like plasticks or rubber part showing. (I like a tail-switch also and a solo emitter) The path is entirely non-tactical, which is good. So, yes I do not look only on the lumens. People complain about getting burns from the Emisar D4 because it runs so hot when producing those 3400 lumens. I do not need my flashlight to set fire to anything. I EDC the Lumintop TOOL Titanium AAA Cree XP-G2 R5 Cool White 110lumen, so the 1000lumen these will produce is a bit overkill for my uses and is one of the reasons I am holding back so far....Which is a long way to say we two might just possibly be looking for different things in a flashlight ;-)
