I think this is cool that Massdrop did their own IEM from the ground-up... But I can't help looking at these and they look really really cheap and low quality to me. Idk might just be me, might be the 3D printing, not sure but they look like that cheapo kind of plastic that dries out and snaps for the housing. They just don't look as quality as say the Noble x Massdrop Universal IEMs and at an even higher price point than the Noble's I think I'd have to wait for the first drop to see how the quality and sound signature is. Also curious how they decided on a sound signature? Do they have an Audio Engineer working with them? Did the community work with them? If anyone knows shoot me a reply because I'm curious.
kiineticTo me it just looks weird with that rectangular cable connector bulge that seems out of place and interferes with the "flow" of the design. I feel that if a good industrial designer could give it just a few more touches it would look much better. For comparison Brainwavz just came out with a 3D printed IEM that looks just fine so its not the process itself that is the problem here although having a variety of colors also helps.

etalthe plastic and design does look clunky and odd, you're right. I couldn't put my finger on what else bothered me but that's totally it. I'm not here to shit on MD, jut wanted to state my opinion so maybe a more elegant and prettier iteration may come out
Though it's tiny, it manages to power even high ohm headsets with amazing accuracy. It works great with the drop usb-c to usb-c and my Phillips shp-9600. Soon enough I'll be using the Akoustyx...
I have an external amplifier with no integrated DAC and I only have an xduo xa10 as a dac/amp can I use the xduo xa10 as a dac only with an external amplifier?
