if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these.
the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too.
these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female
After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces.
This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate.
Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you.
Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
After much research and pondering many options, some much more money, I went with the HD6XX for my first pair of legit headphones. I have worn these headphones more days than not every week for the past year and I am still a fan of the fit and function. If you are doing your research, and the HD6XX is in the running, just buy them. Some other headphones that seemed "similar" are far more expensive. I remember reading reviews about the ear cups wearing out and needing replacement, but I'm not feeling that after a year. They were a little tight for the first few weeks and I was a little nervous about that, but they broke in and I don't even think about them on my head. I use them for listening to electronic music with and without vocals and for the hours of MS Teams meetings I have the pleasure of attending throughout the week. Comfortable for hours of use.

Just got it replaced via warranty... and one side is dead AGAIN. b r u h
B R U H .It's only been like a month or two but the right driverDIED on this replacement.
The first one had the left side die in like a few weeks. I'm extremely disappointed, especially considering the EXPENSIVE shipping fees I had to pay for shipping to and from (since I used a forwarder and they also can't ship to a different location than the one I used). I was expecting to, AT LEAST, FINALLY have a proper working one but here we are.
This is without me opening it and removing the driver.
I don't get it. They said this model is one of the more robust ones... and yet... this. I didn't leave a review on the first one and just chalked it up to being an unlucky lemon, and went the RMA route but... Did I get 2 lemons back-to-back???What kind of luck is this? No, it's not the cable. I already verified by swapping the cable and using with a multimeter (only by touching the exposed pins).
Such a shame. It sounded great too.

"There is no headphone"
I was only ever used to budget headphones/IEMs and this was my first decent audiophile headphone so I didn't know what to expect, or how to quantify what's better. The best way I can put it for others like me, is that the biggest difference you feel is that after a while you forget that you're wearing any headphones and just become a part of the music. I suppose that is the best compliment one can give.
Estos son mis auriculares favoritos, los encuentro muy naturales y siento, que la representación de frecuencias es muy neutral y disfrutable.
Por el precio creo que es muy dificil encontrar algo de este nivel.
-Necesitan una amplificación dedicada
As many have alluded to, these headphones are a great introduction to the world of hifi audio.
Sound:
The Sennheiser 6x0 series of headphones are famed for their signature vocal capabilities, and the 6XX certainly lives up to that reputation. Vocals are truly the star of the show when it comes to these headphones. Vocals are clear/detailed, forward, and full sounding.
As for the rest of the frequency range, it sounds in line with what most reviews say. The headphone is relatively warm sounding, but definitely lacks in sub-bass. Treble, while somewhat relaxed, is not as recessed as I thought it was going to be (based on the assumptions I had made from all the reviews of the headphone I had seen/read).
You will most likely need an amp (unless you have the newer apple silicon macs) to be able to properly drive these headphones, given that they are 300 ohms impedance headphones. Without it, these headphones will sound quiet and potentially not as full sounding.
Build:
The 6XX uses quite a bit of plastic, but it doesn't feel necessarily cheap. These headphones do seem like they can withstand a beating. Initial clamp pressure is quite strong, so you will want to stretch out the headphone a bit before it starts to get more comfortable.
my setup:
DAC/Amp - Topping DX3 pro +
DAP - iBasso DX180
other headphones I have - Hifiman Ananda Stealth, Hifiman HE400se, Grado SR80x, Focal Azurys, Moondrop x Crinacle Dusk
Conclusion:
Overall, this is a great starter headphone within the world of hifi audio. It truly excels when it comes to vocals.
