What does it mean that these are open back?

The other side of the open back design is that as the sound making element moves backwards and forwards to produce the sound waves going into your ear, it also pushes sound waves out of the back of the headphones which can be heard by those around you. Accordingly open back headphones are not really suitable for use in an environment that is shared by people that don't want to listen to the music that you may be enjoying.

It's not required, but a DAC is necessary for any Hifi to sound its best, and an amp will increase the quality as well.

I've used K712pro, it always needs cranking up the volume quite a bit more than other headphones, is it the same with this one?
