What sort of dac/amp would you guys recommend for the k7xx? I have read from multiple sources saying that it doesnt get along well with a whole lot of amps. I don't know what amp to get, and my budget is sub $100, prefereably something portable for the time being.

evanpdimI just bought a schiit stack, amp/dac. I've researched more than I care to admit but most people agree you can't go wrong with Schiit. Competively priced and good hardware. Bought a Magni 2 Uber and a Modi Multibit. I listen to digital sources most of he time hence the multibit dac. Perhaps a tube amp sometime in the future. Most who purchase that particular stack stick with the Magni 2 Uber and the Modi 2 Uber.

evanpdimlittle out of his price range though friend. i agree if you have the 200-300 USD to drop the schitt stack it second to none in the price range. having said that after alot of research myself, i would say one of three amp/dac combos would suit you evan. the first would be the nuforce Udac 3, for 75-100$ish its very solid. though with there custom EQ they add a bit of their own flavor which some people dislike, and others love. second is the e10k, i have no experience with this amp, but hear* ;) (pun) good things. and last but not least. the S.M.S.L SD793-ii i personally prefer this amp in most cases over the Udac3, but have not yet heard ether with the k7XX. good luck friend

filthyBlumpkinHahaa I suppose I overshot a bit. True talk though - just the Magni 2 ($100) would more than suffice and since these are open back cans, portability wouldn't be high on my list :p

evanpdimyea fair enough, and if you can squeeze the 50$ in get a magni 2 uber, and down the line complete that stack of schiit with the modi 2 ;P and yea portability wouldn't be huge on my list ether.. being open back you would be playing music for everyone around you ;P

evanpdimDecided on a Schiit Fulla, I've heard good things about them, and seems like the best portable amp under $100, and I also have heard that it pairs excellently with AKG headphones, which can be picky with amps. I decided to get a portable amp because I want something I can use with my laptop/phone, and I will invest in a nicer desktop tube amp later down the road, but I wanted something that would be viable whether it be playing music from my laptop, my phone, or my desktop.
