Why so damn expensive? My recent 770 PROs cost about $160? Even with the accessories, what makes "GO" worth a couple hund dollars more??

This is the equivalent to the 1770 pro, not the 770.

FunkyRobotThe 1 is worth a grand, more in my experience and the go is worth 500 bucks the go allows for me to use these for DJ sets. It is seriously a joy to mix with these. I also have a headphone only amp they sound MONSEROUS.

These are a tuned version of the 1770 pro (which is about +$500?), not the 770 pro. I think the "GO" part of it is the low impedance (32 Ohms vs 1770's 250 ohms) so they are useable without an amp (though not very portable imo)

AsatiirUsable without an amp? How do you figure? Do you mean just the output of a preamp? It's a different driver and the different impedance is part of the result. As long as the output impedance of whatever headphone amp you plug it into is lower than the input impedance of what you plug into, in this case, headphones, it will work. Plugging a low output impedance into a really really high impedance will weaken it but not cause distortion. Reverse scenarios are a problem, plugging a higher impedance output into a lower impedance device will attenuate it but more so in the higher frequencies. This was a problem plugging some tube equipment into solid-state amps.

DavesworldIt is quite obvious they mean you don't need an external amp to power them, and that the power from a portable device alone is enough to drive them at a generally acceptable volume. They will produce a nice volume, and sound, plugged directly into a phone. That is all they were trying to say. When we get into all the details, there are obviously other factors in place that influence how well a device can be driven by any given power output.

The DT1770 Pro give you an extra cable, a hard shell case, and Drop adds an extra set of ear pads. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro-vs-beyerdynamic-dt-1770-pro/440/714?usage=19&threshold=0.10

My headphones came with no documentation or booklets in the box. No owner's manual or warranty info; just headphones, cable, and ear cups. Is this normal?

Mine didn't come with any instructions either! I was confused at first, but eventually eye figured them out!

How are these different from DT1770's?

These have much less pronounced Beyer Highs, especially if you listen to heavy music, these are better, more pleasant sound The impedance on 177x is lower, 32 vs 250 ohms on 1770, so they are much easier to drive and wont require a amp, but I would still recommend having one with a dac, to make them sound better These have less accessories than 1770, these only come with 1 cable, 2 pads, while the 1770 come with a case,2 cables and 2 pads

Where to return? Right can is dead... Grrr super well built and comfortable, but 2% failure rate of QA bit me.

Answer. Right here. Drop refunded as soon as I returned them. Brett in support was great! Missed the drop to reorder so haunting the site to replace or find a different pair. Love open back headphones, but love the closed back sound. Must resist the CX's...
