Edit: 9/6/20 Buckles sold out As of today, 9/5/20, I have one set of buckles left to sell. This will be my final run of these buckles so when they're gone, they're gone (at least through me). I'll be out on trail and unavailable the last 3 weeks of September. If you want a set let me know by following the instructions below. @dandurston picture of the buckle upgrade for the inner only pitch.

dandurstonWhen pitching is it common for the short paneled corner (closer to the trekking pole) to be lifted higher off the ground (more ground clearance) then the long paneled corner? Is this just the nature of that corner being closer to the pole?

evincent220Perhaps. The pole provides upward pull and then the corner stake pulls it out, but there’s no way to pull it down. That corner closer to the pole has more upward pull so it would tend a lift up more, but you could stake it with a shorter cord so the stake is closer to the corner to keep it down.

evincent220I think that letting out a bit more of the strap where the inner connects to the outer might help. I thought my inner corner seemed a little high too. I woke up with a huge tear in the mesh at the zipper and above the door as well as breaks in the stitching above where the mesh panels are joined. I'll need to have the entire upper part of the tent restitched. I'm thinking that this is more than likely due to operator error and having something too much tension in the inner pitch. Aside from that I've slept 6 nights in it and really like the tent.

rkhpaThat's too bad to hear about your mishap. I'll definitely keep that in mind when gauging the tautness of the inner's adjustment.

evincent220Hi there. I just got the 2 person model. Let me know if you’re still producing the inner-only setup buckles, and if they’d be suitable for the 2 person tent. If so, is the next step to send you $8 via PayPal?

evincent220@evincent220 Any suggestions on resellers/sources for those buckles? Like 25-200. Shelby Outdoor is sold out and the handful of resellers I’ve tried in the US don’t carry that buckle.

SweetjondSorry to hear that - I never found anyone else that you could buy it from and I did my fair bit of searching. It's possible it's for sale somewhere else but I'm unaware of anyone.

evincent220I am working on an inner only pitching kit that will have a buckle and tensioner on a bit of webbing with a grommet for the pole tip, like this:
search
That is a very simple/elegant system since there is no knots and it's easily adjustable. If anyone is interested, you can add your email to this google list and I'll notify you when it's available: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdP6DV1XrQHsZpFjOtts18ZyxNWs8QbPObD_Wm7NsHh90EfWA/viewform

dandurstonsexy - Is that just a prototype picture? I'd think the female buckle would have to be quite a bit further from the grommet.

evincent220It's just a diagram. No working prototypes yet. Hard to source these parts in low quantities. Why do you think the female buckle should be further from the grommet? Maybe it will push on the pole tip awkwardly?

dandurstonI just looked back at my inner pitches and noticed I needed more length between the pole and the female buckle. I think it was because that was the best way I could do it without having the inner pulled at an awkward angle. However, I haven't done a ton of the inner pitches to really hone in the best method. It may have also been that I tied off to the base of the trekking pole tip instead of the top tip where the grommet would sit.

Maybe that changed things. In theory your diagram should work just fine since it's the exact orientation of the peak setup as is. So what do I know? Haha.
