I had the pleasure of test-driving this knife. I can tell you it oozes quality and precision craftsmanship. The action on this beauty is phenomenal. You won't be using it much for cutting stuff because as soon as you flip it open you'll get the irresistible urge to close it, just so you could flip it open again. And it ticks all the right boxes: Great steel, check Frame lock, check Titanium handle, check Incredible price point, check.... Country of origin is usually a big factor for me, but only because it is often an indicator of quality. However, when quality is plain as daylight, why should I care were it's made. Oh I'm in.

Therocmy question when buying a chinese high priced knife is always how do I truely know I am getting the materials promised. with this WE knives company is it guaranteed we will truely get crucible s35vn or is it slightly possible (although very small possibility) that we get some chinese knock off of the real s35vn?

mike240seAs far as I know S35VN is a trademark of Crucible Industries. What you are describing would be trademark infringement. The likelihood of Massdrop, Ferum Forge and WE Knives conspiring to commit such an act is exceedingly low. US, Japanese and European (Volkswagen anyone?) companies are just as capable of cheating as any other, and have done it often enough. I do not mean to say that country of origin and brand name do not matter in this age. I'm just saying that consumers can't afford to be lazy anymore. They'll risk missing out on a potentially a superior product because of outdated preconceptions.

TherocWhile this will probably be moderated/removed, the main issue is exactly what you said "trademark infringement" China has repeatedly proven they care nothing of usa trademark infringement. Look at the millions of iphone clones that go as far as having the apple logo and fake apple operating system. While I dont think massdrop or ferum forge would knowingly conspire to commit such an act at all, I have no idea about WE knives which is why I asked. It sounds like this company has satisfied many in this forum with previous products so I might take the plunge on this knife. That being said, I would bet good money there are tons of knives coming out of china that claim to use a name brand steel yet they use some chinese knock off of that steel that is similiar in composition and likely not to be noticed.
To take it a bit further, how does something like this work? WE knives orders x kg's of s35vn from crucible and its shipped from the USA to china for production? Or is there a crucible factory in china making steel for the chinese market?

mike240seThe materials are what they say they are. There are records that the S35vn is real. You have nothing to worry about with we.
We can source directly from america or the distributer in China. WE knives got m390 from america, Vlad the old USA warranty rep who also sells we knives was able to source them a whole lot of m390 and plenty of evidence to show the process. this is a very legitimate business.
here's some more piece of mind http://knifeinformer.com/interview-with-niagara-specialty-metals/ Give us an idea of some of your top customers.  Are they all US based or do you supply overseas too? We sell to almost all of the major and mid tech manufacturers in the USA. In no particular order the domestic customers are Benchmade, ZT, Spyderco, Leatherman, Ka-Bar, Gerber, Chris Reeves Knives, Rick Hinderer… We also ship steel overseas to Boker, Kizer and a distributor in Asia.

mike240seIt's sourced from America and there is a distributor for the USA steel in china also. The knives your referring to are the ones on Ali Express or dhgate and those are random steel. We knives, rike knife and Reate knives all source USA made steel and there are records of it.
