joelellisNice, but are you are leaving them Au naturel? Aren't you concerned about moisture damage? Isn't there a preservative or wax that would protect them against mud, sweat, rain and Pizza?
RayFOn my own set I used a food grade mineral oil, like you would use on a butcher block.
The sets I’ve sold so far have been requested as unfinished. People can apply wax/varnish/oil as they see fit!
RayFYou getting pepperoni on a set of wood scales isn’t a reflection on my work. I suggest G10 or perhaps CF if you’re going to be cutting pizza.
Some friends asked for wood scales, so I machined some wood scales. I do recommend the mineral oil but they obviously have something better in mind, and it sounds you do as well.
RayFI finished these bloodwood scales (this is my personal set) with some beeswax/mineral oil/carnuba wax (food safe). Water beads off. I’m pretty sure these are now (mostly) safe for pizza.
I would still recommend (actually encourage) that folks maintain their scales like they do their knife... keep it clean and lubricated for maximum life and enjoyment. :)

joelellisThese look exquisite! They should be carried outside your pocket in this case. Like hanging off your backpack or something, just danglin' ya know? Keep up the good work!
GaleForceI’m on vacation for 10 days visiting my family on the other side of the country, so I took the listings down. I’ll be reposting them and making more stock when I return Aug 31st.

joelellisWood scales look so much better with the original satin finish! I was thinking about caving and buying a rosewood and swapping scales with my satin/g10, but this looks like a better and cheaper option. Thanks for posting.
joelellisYou are correct my friend. I hope this guy gets a little more attention to the fact that you are making high end jammies and not a beater piece. Come on...
joelellisI really want a couple of these sets for my gent. Also interested in other knives, maybe sending knives to you to make your templates with. Email me at 678rwhp@gmail.com your Facebook page doesn't come up for some reason
WarclericSorry about that! I’m about to move so I can’t take any new work on until I get my new shop up and running (probably early February). I’ve taken the Facebook page down until then
joelellisHi, daily user of my Gent, I would like to upgrade it to wood scales... and your work looks excellent. Are you still making those bloodwood or other wallnut scales? And shipping to France? Here is my @: nicobalth@gmail.com. Thanks
dasmanI took the page down because these were more popular than the time I have to make them.
My website is listed above in this thread and it has my email address. As we get into the holiday season, I find myself pretty busy (as many others do), so I can’t say I’ll take on any more work this year. I do have some on eBay
