This just might be the most amazing drop Massdrop has ever offered. I love electrostats and have owned 6 pair of STAX (still have 3) and I've been wanting to see what the legendary Koss electrostat brings to the table. Now if we can get the Sennheiser electrostat at a simliar pricepoint.... that would really be a coup!
BillqsJust as you're excited to have this setup, I'm excited to hear your review- it might just be the most amazing one complete with cross comparisons! Have no choice but to miss out on this drop, unfortunately or otherwise XD
PS: By Sennheiser electrostat, you don't mean... O_O
BillqsSounds like quite a collection! You should do a shoot-out review like phoenixsong suggested.
We pitched Sennheiser on an HE60 revival we called the Musaeus (the son of Orpheus in some texts, a disciple in others). This is one of the preliminary slides we made to describe the concept in a meeting we had last year:

It is HIGHLY unlikely this will ever get past a slide in powerpoint, but that's what I said about the 58X three years ago so who knows. With enough support we can raise this in future discussions.
WillOmg you will break the website if this really does happen. Will definitely be all over this. Pls continue badgering them on a HE6X collaboration lol
WillYou would melt the internet if you could pull that off! You guys have a great working relationship with Sennheiser and if this Koss electrostat sells like I think it will, they may well take notice. (BTW, I've seen Edifier drops, maybe you could put a bug in their ear about a special Massdrop STAX combo!
Willif this ever happen try to get sennheiser to improve the dust cover on the driver, newer stax models seem to have figured out this part but older e-stats like the ESP950 and the HE60 always develop problems due to dust or humidity, at the very least try to add some good case to keep them dust free while not in use
BillqsI just bought the Stax SRS-3100 kit which includes the SR-L300 + SRM-2525 (my first pair of electrostats!). Even though it's just a "starter" kit, I absolutely LOVE them.
Do you have any pointers on:
whether it's worth an energizer upgrade for the L300's?
DACs that pair well with electrostatics?
Before I inevitably fall down the premium electrostat rabbit hole, I'm wondering if there's anything I should do to maximize the performance of the SR-L300. I'd love some guidance from a long time Stax user.
