Sound is pretty good! Music sounds full and no distortion that I can perceive at normal listening levels. I'm no audiophile so I'll leave it there. I do have a DAC/Amp so that could be contributing to my overall sound enjoyment. I am liking the open-back design, I wasn't sure if I would at first. You can definitely hear outside sounds, and they definitely are audible if someone else has them on, as to be expected.
Mic sounds good. It's a bit nasally, but that could be more a commentary on my own voice... TBD =p. I did buy a windscreen to prevent some breathing noises and that did seem to help with a quick before/after test. It did lower the mic volume a little, but I'm rocking just a +10dB boost in Windows and people online can hear me alright with a good mic positioning. I think. More testing with a friend who won't get annoyed at me asking "Can you hear me now?" 20 times during an online match, hah.
I haven't nor do I intend on using the volume wheel, but it rotates smoothly, it doesn't click at different % or anything like that. The cable is VERY nice, I think it'll outlast everything else on here, and the rest of the build is good too so that's saying something. I thought it had a twist+lock mechanism, but it just plugs in and pulls out. I'm not sure if the flexible boom is keeping its position well or not. It seems like it's unbending a bit after getting it in place, but maybe that is in my head or will adjust over time.
Overall impression: If you are looking for a headset, this is a great price for a solid build with good sound/mic. If you want an amazing sounding pair of headphones that happen to have a mic, I'd get headphones that sound how you want, get an attachment, and just deal with the cabling. The sound is good, but the headphone+mic combo and build quality are definitely the selling points.
