Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Is the game and chat audio being echoed, or just the chat conversation?
If the issue is just with chat, then try unplugging the PC37X, wait a few seconds, then reinserting the plug. You can also try powering your controller off then back on, or restarting your PlayStation. If you have another controller, you can try using that.
If the issue is an echo of both chat and game audio for the people in your party, the troubleshooting above may work too. Also, make sure the headphone cable and any adapters are firmly connected and plugged in fully at both the controller and headset entry. You could also try seeing if using the same TRRS adapter works in a smartphone during a phone call, to see if the echo issue truly is hardware.
These echo issues are usually software glitches. The above troubleshooting, Sony tech support, and Sennheiser tech support can all help you out.
Edit: If I mute the mic they can only hear for example music if I crank it up. I understand that being open-back, sound escapes and therefore can be picked up... I just don't understand how this is possible if the mic is muted. I tried screaming into it while being raised and didn't pick up my voice. People on the other side though, can listen clearly to my music, to the point that it seems as if I'm streaming it.
From this, and several other things I've seen on this discussion page, it sounds like the manufacturing QA on these is subpar. I don't need something aerospace-grade, but I expect better than this from a headset over $100.
