OK, so what does the triple LED feature do for performance? Honest question. Is it brighter, or longer lasting? If I were to be cynical, I would think it was a marketing gimmick. I don't know, but I'm curious.
I have a bunch of the Nitecores and other cigar shaped flashlights that drop here on Massdrop. I have been very happy with them.
This one looks cool but will it give me much greater performance than the other ones?
K.T.NMulti-optics allow for more efficient use of LED's as their performance (lumens and lifespan) tapers as the wattage increases (past the optimal level). Typically you have a much bigger hotspot with and brighter spill lighting whereas a single emitter will have a much more intense hotspot and dimmer spill lighting. By filling a flashlight head with LED's and small optics you don't have the advantage of using a huge reflector to funnel that light.
Multi's are the shotguns of flashlights. Single optics are rifles.
ILikeTurdullsYeah, I was asking if anyone knew how the MecArmy rechargeable lights compared to similar ones from Fenix, which I have a few of. FWIW, the MecArmy light that I purchased from the last drop is still doing fine but I haven't used it heavily.
LateralusI've heard mixed reports with Mecarmy, but any company that sells obvious ripoffs can't be to concerned with QC. Fenix is the China standard of quality lights. Fit and finish are excellent. They are an good value, reliable, and put out original designs. They also have good CS. Especially Fenix Store. Mecarmy isn't comparable from what I've seen.
This is essentially an exact copy of a much more quality light by OVEREADY. OR has has an outstanding status in the flashlight comunity for their inovation, quality and customer support. I encourage people not to support this drop. It's theft. http://www.oveready.com/moddoolar/cat_22.html
ILikeTurdullsCan you suggest another flashlight with all these features in this price range? Specifically, the PT-16 size, brightness, battery life, and sealed USB charging.
