The Megalodon Encoder Console (KB3X-01) is better than expected once you learn how it works and customize it for your needs. I'd thought the build looked plastic, but in person, it's a solid metal build. All 3 encoders/joysticks have a good feel to them. The joystick feature is VERY light and will take a bit of getting used to. If you push it as far as it feels like, you'll activate the directional and the press down at the same time.
Once you've setup layers for your needs, using it becomes a bit second nature after a while. Have one for general, one for photo work, one for video work, etc. For example, my general is to use an encoder each for scroll, zoom, and volume. The volume encoder has play/pause at up, next/previous at right/left, and push down for mute. Scroll has the directional arrows for the directions.
Customizing instructions aren't included. You'll need to do that yourself. You can download the VIA json file for the Megalodon Encoder Console (KB3X-01) from the DOIO website. You can then use this within your browser at usevia.app. Note that you must use Google Chrome or similar and will likely have to disable ad blocking. I could not get it to work with the downloadable VIA app which is just an Electron wrapper for usevia.app.
