If anybody's curious, I installed a set of the burnt orange on one of my Planck keyboards. They're some of the nicest heavy switches I think I've ever used. The short travel feels really good and the heavy spring really discourages bottom-out.
I have a build log here: https://imgur.com/a/dPHng

XyverzI have a Preonic EOTW pending and Kailh Speed Coppers that arrived yesterday for it. I had been planning to just skip LEDs, at least for now. But, your build has them going on before the switches. Would they not have gone on after? Did you have to bend any back, or did you order enough to just use the good ones? I haven't done any research on what kind of LEDs to buy yet (first build), so figuring that out might slow my timeline.
Was thinking of doing Burnt Oranges for a Planck later on. Love the coppers, and I'm definitely intrigued by the heavier switch.

GroovyGroveFor sure they didn't need to be on before the switches, but since I wanted them to be inside the switch, I had to solder them on the board before soldering the switches in. If you choose to go this route, you'll need to ensure you get the 2x3x4mm rectangular LEDs with no flange.

XyverzOk, thanks. I found some that fit that description (on Amazon, and there weren't many options, so I'll look elsewhere for a different brand).

XyverzThank you very much for sharing your build log.
I've been testing kailh speed switches with my preonic for a temporary build, (they are not heavy switches, silver) only complaint about them is they don't have old cherry-style housings, so I can't use qmx clips. If I have to use kailh speed switches again for my next build, I have to solder sockets before soldering switches, it will be very time-consuming work so I'm not sure I will use them again. But your build log makes me rethink, what an awesome job! Congrats on building your planck successfully.
