Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

My 2x HA-200's were originally supposed to be delivered by the 7th July '17, but that didn't happen; I received a standard Massdrop email describing a 'problem' and delay, and nothing since.
I personally invested in two of these amps as part of creating a reference headphone system, so please update here and via email to all purchasers on what is going on as soon as you can.
Thank you.
They sound amazing! Will need to run in for longer but extremely early impressions are good. Will in the future buy black footers but the large oak ones (also from MCRU, as well as the cheap isolation platform base) are serviceable.
Currently using Double Helix Cables Prion4 one-off TLoZ themed pure silver balanced cable, with a DHC Complement4 balanced adapter, and a DHC 2.5mm to 2x 3-Pin XLR balanced cable so that I can use my Onkyo DP-X1 as source for now. Everything works!
Unfortunately my Focal Elear's are in France being repaired (getting new matched pair drivers), but my Audeze EL-8 Titanium headphones with adapters to use with Prion4 cable works exceptionally well.
The long delay was bad (didn't get on the 7th July '17, but yesterday 28th July' 17!), but I'm glad that they are here.
Great deal, powerful performance!
The component names for my setup are named in my original post. However, my project was extremely expensive, and I would not expect others to go as far as I have done. Plus, this is Plan A Setup; Plan B is my true final setup which I am working on next year (swap Onkyo DP-X1 to Oppo Sonica DAC for source, and get two DHC Prion4 3-Pin XLR cables).
For your HD650, a decent DAC/source and cables are needed. First, are you using a single NuForce HA-200, or two? Starting with source, make sure you use something with high VRMS output. This means high voltage output from the source. For a balanced setup (2x HA-200's amps), between 4VRMS - 8VRMS or higher will do the job and let the monoblock amps sing. 2VRMS will suffice but will not be truly adequate, but it is doable. If you are only using a single HA-200 amp, 2VRMS - 4VRMS is good, anymore is ok but I think overkill. Your source can be a digital audio player, or desktop based. Good examples include Astell&Kern KANN, Oppo Sonica DAC, iFi Audio Black Label, Chord Hugo 2, and more.
Next, cables. This is a wild area and I cannot tell you what to buy or get, but here are some suggestions: If you live in a country that does not use US mains power plugs, you will need to purchase appropriate mains power cables. A single HA-200 requires one power cable, so two amps will need two mains cables each.
Input/output: A single HA-200 takes in a standard audio RCA cable (stereo Red and White) for single-ended playback. The output is 6.3mm headphone jack, so a cable or adaptor is required for your single-ended headphones. However, if you have two HA-200's, you will need balanced 2x 3-Pin male XLR cables (or a single balanced cable, such as 2.5mm male TRRS, or 4-Pin male XLR, that ends in 2x 3-Pin male XLR jacks for each amp) from source to each amp. Then you will need a headphone balanced cable; here it can be a cable that is terminated in either 2x 3-Pin male XLR jacks for the front of each HA-200, or 4-Pin male XLR and then use an adapter (4-Pin female XLR to 2x 3-Pin male XLR). Your headphone (earcup) jacks will be ones for your HD650.
As for what are good cables, this is very complicated. In summary, I prefer high gauge pure silver, but good gauge pure copper, or good gauge copper/silver, are excellent. I recommend Moon Audio, and Double Helix Cables, but this depends on your budget and time.
There is a lot to consider, but, hopefully the above helps you on your own setup plans.
Nice setup btw
No idea about measurements, and NwAVGuy has been MIA for a long while now (so much so that JDS Labs and others have taken their own approaches to the O2 Objective project, superseeding it in some cases).
A lot of users who have these amps seem happy, I am one of them, and I think that they are killer, but I myself have no testing equipment (and lack knowledge to create any with reasonable quality results).
In my case, I recommend the amps, but this is obviously my personal opinion. I would say a single-ended iFi amp (pick one) would better a single HA-200, but not at this price. However, I would save up and go for iFi Audio. If you are gunning for two HA-200 amps, I do not know of anything on the market that can better such a setup at this price, at all, nor performance. The value/performance/actual deal cost is insane, so, GO FOR IT (if you want to of course)!
