As a first time fountain pen owner, I just bought the Pilot, and I can say the squeeze converter is absolutely very easy to use. Dunk it in ink, squeeze, release, pause for 5 seconds. Do that until no more bubbles appear. Completely idiot-proof, and not really worth worrying about. You get more capacity than a piston converter, but the drawback is you can't see how much ink you have left. Furthermore, the brass barrel feels great, and as somebody who knows nothing about fountains, I am really in love with this one. I also have a question: are these the only options available in terms of style? I really want the white tiger pattern, because plain seems a bit boring, to be honest. Could we somehow get a few more styles?

TinyPlaidNinjasI suspect we're getting a good price because it's the stock they're retiring. I would be surprised if they were willing to offer their new line of patterns for this price, especially since it was only very recently released.

WhyMeWhy would Pilot retire a great pen like this? Where do you get your information? We will eventually offer the animal style most likely at the same price, it just a matter of inventory since I'm sure you know that they are highly in demand.

andyThey aren't retiring the whole line, but they introduced a new colour(white?) and new patterns. You can see their new line at the Goulet Pen Store page.

andyWoah. Yeah, they are retiring some patterns, such as the dotted, lined, and zig-zag patterns of all three colors of the original Metropolitan pen, but they aren't retiring those 3 plain pens.
