Product Description
When the long-awaited POK3R was released, Datamancer wanted to create something unique for the highly desirable 60% keyboard. Taking the concept of a keyboard case and marrying it with a carrying case, the company created a product that's both aesthetically beautiful and utilitarian Read More
I'm not one to gripe over the prices but has anyone who works for Massdrop done some research?
- Walnut w/o wrist wrest costs $159.00 on Datamancer's site vs $160.99 on Massdrop.
- Datamancer direct will be delivered sooner than May 1st (did a double take bc March seemed reasonable, but May??)
Why would a customer wait 3+ months to lose $1.99?
I'd love to join the drop and would offer @Datamancerthe following suggestions:
- The wood choice should not incur any price increase
- The price is too darn high, as someone with compulsive spending habits and a decent job the price point is approximately $20 too high. Understandably if this is a small operation you'd prefer to maximize profit for a smaller count of sales. I just argue that you'd make a greater profit by charging less to customers, thus gaining a larger overall sale count.
When I contemplated buying a set the thought occurred I might as well buy the matching wrist wrest! But at a total cost $185.99 for a case + wrest, the price point seems a bit out of touch ;-) Cheers
Edit: others mentioned this price increased from $120, which is a price I would consider a deal. This is a group buy @ cost and something I can make directly from the vendor website. Please try again, Im sure other would be customers would appreciate it.
Thank you for the info LevelSteam!
Indeed, I have the LE but I'm keeping that one the way it is with it's heavy case.
I have a modded Poker 3 with white leds and SA caps so it's a shame they didn't make the lid a bit higher. After all it's keyboards like that at which this case is aimed at.
Nice wooden case though.

Luna55Yeah I agree. It would be fairly easy to make a wood or acrylic spacer so the lid would fit. I keep saying I'm going to do that and replace the straps on mine with buckles but I never quite get around to it. Still looks good and feels even better with SA profile caps though.
Looks like these were originally $120 in the first few drops. Why have these risen so much? Plus, configuring the options to match the walnut options on their site with the same one here results in them being $3 less here. Not much savings.
kevin8715Massdrop started taking bigger percentages from sellers compared to when this case was first dropped. There were increased prices site wide. Maybe Datamancer couldn't afford to lower their prices when Massdrop did that?
I have one of the these from a different drop and I personally really like it/feel that it's worth the money. I have a couple other wood frames from sites like KBDfans that are nice for their respective price (about $70) too though.
Need some advice on for a set I am planning out, these are the components:
60% board
GMK camping set
green leds
this case in walnut
R9 Blue Zilent Switches
Can anyone recommend a board and frame? There is one option I am considering for the board which is linked below. Also, are all these parts compatible, am I missing anything? I did my research but I like being double checked before I drop a couple hundred dollars on a new build.

I have a zeal60 in a datamanacer case, works mostly great. The one issue is that the zeal doesn't put the reset button in the same place as the dip switches on the poker. So to flash new firmware onto the zeal I need to remove it from the case.

kevin8715I'd probably use a GH60 PCB from kbdfans.cn, a 60% plate from the same site and your choice of switches of course.
Someone asked about the case being flat and I shot some pictures of mine. I had a few different profiles so I figured I'd add the to the general discussion. Very cool case, and the reverberation with a wood case is very unique. :)
sleepybrettThankyou for the info. It's a shame they didn't make the lid a little higher then, such a nice case would have been beautifeul with my Poker 3.
Please release: FC660C Machinist case, HHKB Seafarer case etc. Your target customers will then all have this "premium priced" mindset. Please keep in mind your market positioning and release the expensive ones for the high end consumers! Make it limited too.
