I purchased 3 of these a bit over a year ago, these went from awesome to amazing when freesync 2 was released and I was able to use gsync with them especially, I had no dead pixels and so far haven't had any complaints out of these monitors at all.
Monitor has been great for the time that I've owned it. Colors were what I expected and the 165hz worked for a pretty good while. I've started to experience flickering randomly throughout the day and wasn't sure as to why it was happening. I decided to lower the refresh rate to 144hz and it looks like the flickering has stopped.
Overall, for the price, I think its an excellent value. I am not the most picky on my colors or anything, however compared to my secondary IPS monitor it looks pretty good. I did however get a single dead pixel in the upper right quadrant of my unit but I haven't payed much attention to it. One other problem I run into is that around the bezel of my display, there is about a inch of the glass that is letting light bleed through out through the bezel, however you can push it back into place and it will be fine, I imagine it is a adhesive issue. But I still think its a really good monitor for the value, and the high refresh rate and monster size is great. Even when I am forced to play 1080p, it still looks pretty good for being down scaled. Overall a good monitor, those 2 minor problems are the reason for 4.
I began experiencing some flickering on the displayport specifically. I'm working on ruling out the cable as the issue and will update my review if it turns out to be the monitor.
But other than that, the performance is very good and the physical design and finish are fine. I dislike that it didn't have the audio out line, as depicted in the photos.
Viewing angles aren't great, monitor controls are difficult to navigate. Stand takes up a lot of space and is wobbly. Still trying to figure out how to save the brightness (each time the monitor shuts off, it resets to 20).
I was going to give it 5 stars til I read another one of the recent reviews and realized I don't have all the ports the pictures of this drop actually show. I have 1 DisplayPort and 2 HDMI, missing 3rd HDMI and the audio out as someone else pointed out as well.
Anyways, other than that little hiccup this monitor is amazing, best monitor I've ever seen at this price range hands down. 165 hz and FreeSync worked out of the box with no issues whatsoever. Colors are so much better than my previous 4k TN Panel, as to be expected, but still just much more impressive looking. The curve is going to take time to get used to but I definitely like it since this monitor is on the larger side. I'll probably vesa mount it just to move it further back on my desk since it is so large though, the standard mount forces it to sit pretty far forward on my small desk. Heck, 2 years ago I spent $350 on an Asus 1080 144hz monitor and this thing absolutely blows it out of the water.
As simple as it sounds I really wish It came with some kind of manual that at least explained the settings a bit. So far looks good, need to adjust colors and brightness during the day but presets look good. Will be mounting on an arm with an Hp omen 25 until I can snag another one. Dual 25s wasn’t cutting it.
Overall Impressed with the screen but lacking some advertised features
The 165hz Freesync is indeed Gsync compatible and works great. The only let down is that the monitor has less HDMI ports and no audio out that are advertised in the drop. I have several consoles and my PC sharing the same speaker system so the lack of an audio out is disappointing for me.
All that means is this model was not officially tested and validated by NVidia. After testing the screen with a dozen AAA games over several days it suffers from none of the issues that non compatible screens suffer from such as flickering or stuttering.
I really like this monitor, before it I was using a TN panel and had to look directly my monitor. I really like the VA panel and just how smooth 165hz out of the box is. I haven't tested the audio that comes out of it but most people probably don't use their monitor to get the audio out. anyway, I am not any color expert but all the colors seem to be good enough for most people in my eyes. I would definitely buy another monitor from principle matter.
