Debated between this and the iFi GO Blu, and chose to purchase the Qudelix today due to the app functionality with the built-in database of EQ settings.

When purchasing this last week, July 17, the estimated shipping date was July 19. I'm still not seeing a shipped notification and this listing now says July 26 as the estimated shipping date. Was the shipping date delayed a whole week?

On my second after it died because YOU CANNOT CHARGE THIS WITH QUICKCHARGE seriously, it's even in the manual, it will kill the battery. Other than that, an amazing bit of kit, you can even get Crinicle's PEQ settings, on device if you dig.

praxis22Are you using a OEM charger/cable or a random generic QC charger/cable? Cause it sounds like the 5k is poorly designed if it draws more current than it can handle.
RaisonI don't think current draw is the issue. I think it's that QC chargers can deliver higher than 5V which is considered the standard for USB power. I think the issue stems from the 5K drawing power exclusively from USB bus power instead of the battery when in wired mode. Supposedly it extends the lifespan of the battery by preventing it being constantly discharged and getting hot while charging. I do agree that it's a bit strange they don't have some kind of protection though.

Brad605How about the sound quality? Most of my music is on an X5II and would like to stay in the fiio family.

With a name like 5K, it must have 25% higher resolution than the 4K. Sold!

Bought it from bezos a few months ago, it's been treating me real well. Literally my only gripe is with the goddamn buttons. They press so easily and they stick out the sides so much. Switching from the btr5 to this meant using the clip on the qudelix far more often. This isn't something you can throw in your pocket with your tucked cable.

Putting aside the estimated shipping date, there’s also the shipping fee (unless you purchase something else, to get you to the free shipping threshold of $125); which brings you perilously close to the $109, at the big A. I will say the Qudelix 5K is a great way to experiment with tweaking your IEM’s sound signature. The 10 band PEQ, with 10 user presets is class (pricing tier) leading. The 2.5mm vs. Pentaconn debate: I don’t hear the audio advantage to the 4.4mm, over the 2.5mm. If the argument is over the larger termination being stronger and less prone to breaking. What’re you doing, that puts the 2.5mm in peril ?

LGCiDaily use? Long cables? As an adapter? I could go on. Same reason 1/4" and dual xlr is generally preferred over 3.5mm when it comes to unbalanced.

cooljoe123Yet, 4.4mm is a tad too big for tiny dongles.
