After seeing this I ordered an Orcas solid wood wrist rest off of Amazon, with free same day delivery for the same price. It just arrived, and while not as fancy looking, it's solid wood and is really well finished. Definitely recommend taking a look at it if you like the wood look.
I looks like veneer glued to MDF or chip board wrapped in black melamine The warping makes sense as they'd have completely different thermal expansion properties. If you look at the images these aren't even that well made.
The question you should be asking is does it need to be a full slab of Burlwood? It will minimally effect build quality (which is hardly a concern in the first place) and visually it still looks great.
BkeyThe question, and I like to think it is legitimate, is "What is this made of, besides burled wood?".
I am not interested in answers to unasked subjective questions.
On the 'Royal Glam' marble wrist rests which were on this site a few months ago, a large number of buyers have reported the wrist rest breaking, warping, and cracking due to temperature changes.
I'd love to drop some money and get one of these wrist rests, but no Royal Glam contact has responded to any of these complaints, and lots of people have just been left with broken wrist rests that they (obviously) can't use.
To anyone looking to get one of these, please take a look here first: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/royal-glam-marble-wrist-rest-massdrop-exclusive/talk#discussions and until we can get a guarantee from a representative of Royal Glam, I encourage others to hold their money, lest we just receive another defective product.
EDIT: Actually, if you just search for any Royal Glam rest that has been sold through MassDrop, there have been a huge number of people saying the wood is untreated, and warps/cracks extremely soon after purchase, without any response from Royal Glam themselves. Also delayed delivery times, cancelled orders, and people being sent scratched/dented rests.
Cam4kI've had 1 Royal Sham product that hasn't had significant warping (out of 6) , and that's because I took the time to refinish the 60% case with tung oil myself. I would not recommend buying any Royal Sham products, ever.
