Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

oh the other hand, depending on your preferred sig, you can find much better bang for the buck, that cost less and have equal or better SQ..
i own a BUNCH of iem's, the best values have been brands like brainwavz, sound magic(the pl50 is great for audio books and spoken word stuff, but with a tweak to the EQ to flatten their mid centric sig, they are hard to beat for the money, and, you will never find a set of iem's that are more comfortable then the pl50.....if soundmagic would put out a set in the same shape/size(ears) but with a dba...it would be amazing...anyway, everybody whos tried the pl50 with an assortment of tips agrees...i find them best with ety or sony hybrid style tips...) vsonic(who have made some of the brainwavz line), and a few other names well known on sites like anythingbutipod and headfi... )
for the pl50 im currently listening using tips like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/152498116492
those give a deeper fit then any stock tip and are quite comfortable but arent as good for isolation, for that you would want to get the ety triflanges.
the hf5 i cant say anything bad about, i had 1 set fail, they replaced them without any problems and even tossed in a cople extra sets of small triflanges for me when i asked!!!
ety has a great warranty and, on top of it, you can trade in our of warranty broken iem's of theirs for a NICE discount on their products....i one day will trade the hf5's in, when they die(well one of the 2 sets i have) and get myself a set of er4pt's.
isolation alone, the hf5 and other ety sets are the gold standard in my exp(and from all i have read) http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone_review/etymotic-research-hf5-hf2-hf3/
thats what i would recommend, if you want cheaper, even the kids are decent, but they have a very high impedance (so you cant hurt your ears...as a kid...)
hope this helps, jokers reviews are quite good, im glad he moved the reviews he was doing using the headfi forums to his own site with a searchable database ;)
