I'm interested in this for under-the-cabinet lighting in the kitchen... was going to plug this into a switch to be able to turn on/off without the app unless there's a better option out there. anyway, using a switch would essentially cut the power on and off with the flick of the switch. would the color of the LEDs reset each time?
bz5tjboh nice, this looks like another good option. only thing is, when the LEDs are off, won't the power brick for this thing still be consuming power? other than that, this does look like a cheaper option.
dimm0kIf built correctly, the power brick should not consume power unless power is being used. This system has a control box which has a timer and other controls built into it, so I assume it will be constantly using at least a minimum amount of power.
dimm0kThe LEDs "save" their last setting when removed from a power source. So your usage case (LED plugged into outlet, outlet controlled by switch) would work fine. I'm bummed that these don't have their own inline power switch- seems like a big design oversight.
