Handles a lot of different headphones with ease, from 32 ohm dynamic drivered cans to dt880 600ohms. Only headphone it doesnt seem to agree with is my vintage akg k340s, but i cant find anything that agrees with them anyway.
I bought this because of the low price and was happy that it sounds so good. I have it powering hd6xx, Sundara, Argon MK3 and hd58x, just to name a few. With a balanced hook-up those cans sound sublime. Excited about my purchase.
Certainly like the gain options. Would a 3rd gain option have been better? Absolutely. However, as an entry level headphone amp, it has really impressed.
Sound was good, but power supply started clicking with less than 40 hours use. Just out of 30 days drop window. Chinese help non existent. Money out the window.
Follow up, drop gave me a contact for warranty. Emailed smsl, quick response but I have to ship to china on my dime, another $40 approximately. No telling how long the turnaround would take or if it would be worth it. They need USA setup for problems. I'm personally not wasting anymore money on this venture.
Great Value amp, I had my THX AAA one die, and need a replacement quickly. This amp works great plenty of power for HD 599 SE, HD 6xx, Hifiman HE 4XX or Sundaras, or Meze 99 Noir. Might have a bit too much power for IEMs. The gain switch is really big step, something like 17 DB, so it's usually left on low. It's a very clear amp without any coloring, pairs nicely with my Topping D10s. Also the power cord is great, but a bit short (3ft), luckily I have plenty of them laying around that are longer.
