Constructive Misunderstanding about the Overpriced Product
I bought it for laughs, and only now decided to replace the switches since the ones that came with it are terrible. Honestly, I've never encountered anything this bad before.
So, in 2021, when hot-swappable keyboards are widely available, a keypad is released for $30 (which is half the price of a decent numpad) without hot-swap functionality. On top of that, the components are arranged so poorly that desoldering the factory switches without a soldering gun is practically impossible.
What a brilliant design. And above all, it's incredibly reliable. When desoldering the key near the USB port, the SMD diodes come off with it, and the plastic on the SMD LED melts. This is just ridiculous. Not to mention the integrated plate mount, which makes the process of desoldering and soldering switches even more complicated.
As a result, I just wasted $30 on a device that can't be modded in a basic way. Thanks a lot.
Works well out of the box. Easy to disassemble. Could not get it to show up for reprogramming. Could be user error. I didn't wrestle with it for more than 30 minutes or so.
Since buying The Key, my production has increased 100 fold. The bosses finally noticed and not only am I running the department, I'm now in line to run the whole company. I don't even use a full keyboard anymore. The Key has unlocked so much potential that everything is limitless. Both American political parties have reached out for their presidential nomination, but I turned 'em down. I couldn't take the paycut.
