I love this thing. Gives a nice pop of color to my setup. I programmed it as a media controller to control volume, skip, rewind, and open up Spotify. You can program it to do a good number of actions with just 3 keys. I will say, with no coding experience, it was a pretty steep learning curve. You have to have patience learning it (YouTube) and tinkering with the settings to get it to work how you’d like. But once you get it setup just right it’s really awesome.
Nifty little thing, LED lights are nice and bright, hot swappable key switches are nice to have and the included cable is great. The only downsides were the build quality of the frame was a bit below expectations (one of the feet came off after the first day, I just super glued it back on) and the lack of ease of configurability out of the box. You can follow a very well written guide on reflashing the device to use Vial which is awesome, but would've preferred it to be flashed with this from factory.
This is a great macro pad that you can set once to how you like and forget it. That being said you'll only want to set it once as it is a pain to figure out the software if you're a noob like me. That being said I use mine to copy and paste on the base layer. I then have play pause and mute on another layer and then have the volume adjustments on another layer. It works great and looks really nice on my desk with a set of Cerakey white ceramic keycaps as cheap artisans.
Not as nice as v1, but still a wonderful lil macropad
Even though v1 is still a personal favorite of mine with its metal construction, it was not hot-swappable so the ability to customize it was marginal.
However, v2 changed that and while it is an acrylic base now: it was a nice take on the original v1 :)
I bought this as a little joke, but it's actually quite fun to use. I get to display some of my artisan keycaps on it and it makes a nice little statement on my desk.
