We're going have to wait over a month to save a few bucks? And the people who signed up late, are they still going to wait 3 weeks beyond that? Uh.... no thanks. There are easier and cheaper ways to get our stuff. Sorry Massdrop, this will be the last time I'm going on one of these group buys.
wreckonizeThe "community" saved $2000. I saved exactly $3 off of the original asking price for something that I could have gotten for 1/10 of the price on eBay. In reality I actually paid more money to buy the privilege of waiting over a month. I would have just stayed quiet after posting my comment and waited patiently for the product to ship, but since it is so ludicrous, I couldn't help myself to reply.
joekuActually, if you look at the details of the super cheap o-rings on eBay, they're listed as 1.5mm. The travel of MX switches is about 4mm, so thats a good chunk of the travel gone. These o-rings as well as the ones from WASD and other companies are 0.2mm and 0.4mm, so the reduction in travel is minimal. Just letting you know it's not exactly the same, however cheaper it may be.
wong.max94I happen to have the eBay o-rings. They are 1.5mm thick, but do not reduce travel by 1.5mm. There is some space between the keycap and the Cherry MX switch that the o-ring needs to fill up. The 0.2mm and 0.4mm specs listed by WASD is the travel reduction and not the thickness of the o-ring. I don't know the actual travel reduction of the eBay o-rings, but they would be similar to the WASD or TEX ones.
