What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Incidentally, these are designed for typists, not gamers. If you are a typist, or a programmer, this is what IBM came up with for you in the 80s. It's the best they had to offer. If you are a gamer, this is probably just the wrong keyboard for you. I am not a big gamer, so anyone who has something to add or correct on the subject of gaming, please do!
If you have an argument, make it. Otherwise you should try a Unicomp...you'll find yourself eating crow, I promise you.
If you can't comprehend that, I don't know what to say. You are the one who mentioned "high quality". This is on you.
You still can't convince hard core CherryMX users to switch sides here because the Model-M has it's user base that wants and needs this type of keyboard.
You don't need to convince us here, we will always buy a few Unicomp's for future usage ; )
But you know, I think overall she was a pretty great girlfriend. She was very pretty after all.
Seriously though, I think the problem here is more like, "then you find out she likes to eat sardines for breakfast on cold winter mornings." as opposed to, "she steals one of your organs." There is nothing terribly wrong with it. Obviously it isn't aesthetically what everyone wants, but it has its own charm and it is truly quite functional. I think the biggest problem with these is what seems to be increasingly proven, that they have regular defects out of the factory. I have already seen about 4 complaints about this and I myself experienced it. I will say that I am particularly happy with mine, sardine breath and all.
