Does anyone know what it specifically means when they say "In addition, the VA87MR is comptiable with Macs"? With keyboards being simply USB connected how is a keyboard *not* Mac compatible?

New to mechanical keyboards, what's the difference between white and mint laser front printed? It it just the color?

Got my keyboard a week ago or so, finally got to unpack it.
I don't have much experience with boards, other than my trusty Corsair K60 with reds.
Still, a couple of remarks: 1. The legs are a bit too tall IMO. Feels like a typewriter when I use them (not that this is a bad thing, but still a thing to note) 2. If you plan to use some fancy cable with it (like I planned to get something along these lines https://www.massdrop.com/buy/diamond-patterned-techflex-usb-cables), don't bother. The connector is passed through a small notch, so a thicker cable will not fit in it, I think. See attached picture.

Warning, I bought a Varmilo VA87MR here on Massdrop. I received it in May of 2017. It's now December, and the "alt" keys stopped working. Varmilo told me to pursue warranty through Massdrop, but Massdrop says they only have a 30 day warranty. Varmilo keyboards are supposed to have a 1 year warranty, but no one is honoring it. I will not be purchasing another Varmilo keyboard, especially not through Massdrop.

nal85My alt/option keys suddenly stopped working after having this keyboard for a long time (I'm on macOS Mojave). I spent entirely too much time trying to get them working again (installed Key Codes and nothing was being emitted when I pressed the alt/option keys). Finally figured it out thanks to this article -> http://rainer.4950.net/2009/09/30/resetting-the-usb-keyboard-type-on-mac-osx/
* unplug keyboard
* delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist
* restart
* plug keyboard back in
* upon being prompted to identify keyboard complete that

In the picture of the keyboard you can clearly see Gateron switches with clear top, which I'm guessing spreads the LED color better than the Cherry MX black tops will. Is that a safe assumption that since Cherry MX switches are used, the tops will be the factory black?

I'm new here. Anybody knows why these drops ship so late? February 2018 is 3 months from now.

aljaz823Because the order isn't submitted to manufacturer until the drop ends, so they have to be manufactured after that. And the date Massdrop counts as being shipped is when they have a US shipping label, so they need to get into the country first.
