Hello guys. some of you know me from before or from my review of many massdrop exclusive products including the recent He4xx. The picture below is the thumbnail photo used in my video and you can see the red cable in the pic is actually a junkosha cable from VE.
I have had the previledge of helping with prototypes in making this massdrop exclusive cable and VE's future cables in general
few things I would like to point out:
1. cable microphonics have been a problem before but that has been long gone since the addition of the new sleeve which is much softer than previous sleeve material
2. I personally had problem with the heat shrink hitting my shoulders because it was too long. This has also been fixed
so if you know me, you know that I can get pretty picky. VE has addressed not most BUT all of my concerns and thus I have bought few cables myself for many of the hifiman, audeze, sennheiser headphones and countless iems at our studio.
hand made cables at this cost is remarkable in my opinion and since some stock cables especially the one for he4xx is not so great or if you want a different termination for your headphones, I believe this may float your boat.
I am not too keen on making a whole video on cables, maybe in the future but I wanted to leave a short review/info from what I know.
cheers,

SOULSIKI'm planning to buy a 2 pin cable for my CIEM. I really dont know what the difference between 3.5 Single Ended vs 2.5 TRRS Balanced is. Can you recommend? Thanks

guisess93If you have a digital audio player with 2.5mm input, get that... because it outputs more power and theoretically improved clarity. if not, get 3.5mm for everything else like phone, normal dap... amp.... etc.

SOULSIKI only use my PC/Lap and Sansa Clip Zip as my DAP. I guess 3.5 is the way to go then. Thanks a lot

SOULSIKI'm curious to know - what about the 4XX cable did you find especially not so great? I also got a unit for review and I found the cable to be perfectly competent - compared to HFM's lower product lines' stock cables which are HORRIBLE to handle (I literally could not use my 400S until I got an aftermarket cable) I think this is a huge improvement in terms of ease of use and build quality.
Now if you're talking about its sonic performance then I'll take your word for it; I've personally found that unless you're being SUPER picky when it comes to copper vs proper silver I can't discern any audible differences so I'll refrain from going into discussion regarding that.

VigrithI had a bit of an opposite experience from you... 400s had the nicest cable out of the 4 and 4xx had just a normal rubbery one

SOULSIKReally? Do you mean this cable?

It was stiff, coarse, microphonic and just generally unusable. It'd literally stand up on its own if I held it up vertically almost. Worst cable I've used, so I'd imagine they've probably replaced it by now (I bought my pair as soon as they came out) if your pair is newer.
I like rubbery cables though, it's super malleable, light weight and looks unobtrusive.

SOULSIKHi SOULSIK, is the Junkosha cable better than the VE Cable? im planning on ordering from their website instead so i can customize the colors for the sleeves. This is also for the HD6XX.

guisess93Hey man. 3.5 is single ended while 2.5 is a balanced connection. for 2.5, you wouldn't be able to use it with a phone. You would need a portable player that has a balanced 2.5mm connection like fiio, astell and kern, or shanling. with 2.5, you get more output and lower noise floor. hope this helps !
