When I clicked on this my He6se moved a little on their headphone stand. I told them no but maybe some day.

Moonsand1I run the He6sev2 on my V280.... it’s ok. Bass is a little loose and muddy...don’t think it’s getting quite enough juice. Actually thinks it sounds better out of the THX887 with a little eq. The only time I would prefer the 887

1AudiophoolJust to be clear. I love my Violectric. I just don’t think it does the He6se well. I know on paper it should have enough power but to me the synergy isn’t there. Everything else has been great on it. I would look at Flux fa10 or gsx mini if you’re specifically looking to drive the He6.

1AudiophoolNone of my planars work well with the Violectric. I run all of them off an A90

OkeerNone? What headphones do you have?

FanAudioEther 2, LCD2-F, Ether CX, Fostex T20RP, Monoprice M1060. The Ether CX and M1060 sound alright, but the rest of the headphones become way too dark.

OkeerOh, sure. That is a matter of taste. Find the mach that you like. I provided it with LCD-4 and 4z, I liked the 2 a lot and the 4z more because it is a little less dark than the classic 4. It is true that for pleasure you may prefer mixing with the brightest or most linear headphones. However, many like something very warm and dark ... it is a search and I chose the V280 because I really liked its sonic signature and the ton of power it delivers. I agree that it goes very well with Ether!

FanAudioYeah, the headphones that didn't go well with the Vio are already pretty warm, the amp is amazing with brighter headphones. I'm currently using the Vio with HD800s, and they have been my daily drivers for months now, I might even start selling my other gear.

Moonsand1Just to add another data point: the V280FE drives my HE6se V2s perfectly well but does not mitigate its shortcomings the way that other amps might, namely flat (*cough* "neutral") bass and somewhat sibilant treble. Keep in mind that the HE6 showed the world that planar magnetic was a completely valid high-end audio technology, not that it was a fully mature one. Even then, by all accounts, the HE6se is not a perfectly faithful re-issue of the HE6. There's no shame in the fact that they need EQ. (That said, the HE6se is in no way, shape, or form a contender at the full $1700-1800 MSRP. Definitely wait for one of the frequent dips down to ~$550-600 or prepare to be brutally disappointed) My Ether CX and HD800 both pair quite well with the V280FE, so it is not an untalented amp. IMHO the soundstage with the HD800 rivals a tube amp, which is I trick that I've only ever heard the HDVD 800 pull off before.
