A revamped version of Vioeletric’s highly regarded HPA V280 headphone amp, the HPA V280 Final Edition delivers endgame performance with more power and less distortion than its predecessor. These improvements are owed to an updated circuitry and four built-in amplifiers, which Violeletric optimized based on internal testing, as well as outside tests from award-winning audio brands Lake People and Niimbus Read More

Yeah, the headphones that didn't go well with the Vio are already pretty warm, the amp is amazing with brighter headphones. I'm currently using the Vio with HD800s, and they have been my daily drivers for months now, I might even start selling my other gear.
Moonsand1Just to add another data point: the V280FE drives my HE6se V2s perfectly well but does not mitigate its shortcomings the way that other amps might, namely flat (*cough* "neutral") bass and somewhat sibilant treble. Keep in mind that the HE6 showed the world that planar magnetic was a completely valid high-end audio technology, not that it was a fully mature one. Even then, by all accounts, the HE6se is not a perfectly faithful re-issue of the HE6. There's no shame in the fact that they need EQ. (That said, the HE6se is in no way, shape, or form a contender at the full $1700-1800 MSRP. Definitely wait for one of the frequent dips down to ~$550-600 or prepare to be brutally disappointed)
My Ether CX and HD800 both pair quite well with the V280FE, so it is not an untalented amp. IMHO the soundstage with the HD800 rivals a tube amp, which is I trick that I've only ever heard the HDVD 800 pull off before.
I think the discrepancies come from Drop adding things like ....”the HPA V280 Final Edition delivers endgame performance with more power and less distortion than its predecessor.”

As far as I can tell it’s just a redesign....for example the pregain switches have been put on one side next to each other. There’s now an input selector... basically the whole rear has been redesigned. For the better IMO. It appears the changes are cosmetic and specs haven’t changed.?? For what it’s worth I love my V280 and if the only changes are the design they are still definitely great improvements because the design is the only issue I have with mine.

Yes, a very insecure bunch—sometimes I think they sub out their cloud space from North Korea. Keep an eye out for dark vans parked in your neighborhood.
